I'm playing Fallout 3 on my PS3, and I'm having a blast. It's a good successor to the previous games with a lot more fun content, you feel more engaged in the processes than you did with the text and top-down RPG style.
But there is a caveat - the game is buggy as all get out. Not just for PS3, but all platforms. Some stuff is minor, like momentary freezes when the network notifications come up or mild graphical bugs, but I've just encountered a fatal bug that has completely stopped my progress. I have a single save game, and I'm stuck in a room. When I try to leave the room, the whole system crashes and I have to do a hard reboot. I've tried the "fixes", changed settings, nothing works. I have to sit tight until a patch comes out (which could be weeks) or delete my save and start from square one and lose 10 hours of progress.
****ing ***damn son of a ***** **** mother ****** piece of **** ***** bacon **** and ****** turkey bollocks.
If you buy this game (and it is a good game) please be aware it is not ready for prime time, and SAVE CONSTANTLY and with separate files.
I'm enjoying the hell out of it too
I save after I level up or clear a hard battle
I'm focusing on sneak, small arms & explosives
NINJA!
Have you found the infinite XP glitch yet? After I found it, I started a different campaign to try out some of the high-end character stuff.
I think I want to give it a second-runthrough trying to make unarmed and hand-to-hand work out

+1
Excepting an odd slowdown that happened once
I have =/- 10 hours of play
Xbox 360 rox.
What's your tag, Ti? Mine is the same as my forum name
I'm curious to check it out... .
how is the xbox 360 version?
My xbox just died! :'(
Finally got hit with the red ring of death. I bought it when it was first released, so it's well outside the warranty. I guess I'm lucky it lasted as long as it did.
I'm bummed, cuz I was looking at farcry 2, and this fallout talk sounded intriguing.
I'm not too sure what to do now. I guess I'll see what microsoft wants $$$-wise to fix it, otherwise I'll hit youtube for instructions on fixes. Anyone had any experience? ???

Sounds like the same as the ps3 & pc... except more stable. IIRC the 360 was the platform it was developed on/for, then ported to the others.
I had a launch 360 that just died. I bought an Arcade version which came with 1600 points, re-used my harddrive, and ultimately sold the new 'extra' controller & 1600 MS points.
All told, I think it was around $160 for a replacement rig after I sold the extras. The Arcade has HDMI too, which is nice.

I'm pretty sure the RROD is covered outside of the warranty. When it happened to me I went on the support site, printed out a shipping label, and had it back in 2 weeks all on MS's tab. Check the repair your console link (http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/default.aspx).
F3 is superb. No bugs on 360 as far as I can tell. Anybody slip a live grenade in someone's pants yet? Too funny.
I read that the PS3 version was significantly buggier than the other two platforms.

QuoteIt's a shame, in light of these impressive design elements, that the PlayStation 3 version is shockingly inferior to the others from a technical perspective. Although the Xbox 360 and PC versions display the occasional visual oddity and bland texture, these nitpicks are easy to overlook. Sadly, the jagged edges, washed-out lighting, and slightly diminished draw distance of the PS3 release aren't so easy to dismiss. We also experienced a number of visual bugs on the PS3. Character faces disappeared several times, leaving only eyeballs and hair; limbs on robots went missing; some character models had an odd outline around them as if they were cel-shaded; and the day-to-night transition may cause odd streaks on the screen as you move the camera around. This version doesn't even offer trophies, whereas the Xbox 360 and PC versions offer Xbox Live/Windows Live achievements.
It's been known for a while the PS3 version was being neglected. No DLC was a big hint, they got some deal with Microsoft to make DLC exclusive to the PC and Xbox. We just didn't expect it to be this horrible.
I don't find the graphics are bad (its no MGS4 but it still looks pretty good). It's the bugs that are the real problem. Who knows if a patch will come out (Oblivion was the same and there was never any patch to address the problems). It's extremely sad that Bethesda rushed the game and tossed out an unfinished product - theses types of problems are supposed to be fixed by the end of the beta stage, and having this many bugs on a console which is supposed to be relatively stable compared to a PC is unacceptable. I'm sure they were just in a rush to cash in on the hype and meet the release date with no concern about the problems. After all, we all bought it, and the reviews have been good (IGN had mentioned bugs, but it was quickly edited out of the review within hours). I really like the game, but I'm damn pissed at these problems and lack of support from Bethesda.

I find it interesting that a PC classic was designed primarily for the 360, and then ported to PC/PS3. I'm guessing the Oblivion 360 sales blew away PC/PS3 Oblivion sales. I like the competition aspect of there being multiple consoles, as competition breeds better, faster, cheaper consoles... But when they start resorting to this exclusivity crap the gamers suffer.

Ever play F.E.A.R. for the PS3?
Candidate for the worst porting job ever.
It sucks that consoles have become the new PCs - as in we have to deal with add-ons, multiple models with different features, and buggy games that need patching. I got into consoles because I got sick of dealing with problems on PCs and constantly paying through the nose to keep on the bleeding edge of technology (and still not having enough horsepower to play the latest games designed for some unobtainium Cray super game computer). I miss my PS2, Dreamcast, SNES, NES, Game Gear, Genesis, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, which all simply played games without bullshit and without problems.
Whatever, price you pay for the latest and greatest stuff I guess.

I switched from PC for the exact same reason. $1200/year just to play the latest games on medium quality just got to be too much. Though I have to disagree that conosles have become the new PCs. I have not experienced any major issues with any of the 360 games I've played. For the most part the QC has been up to snuff. What I do miss is free DLC from the PC universe. EVERY DLC on the 360 costs money, even when the developers who created the content want to offer it free.

My xbox died with the red ring outside of warranty, and I got mine replaced for free. I believe they extended the warranty for the RROD 3 extra years IIRC.
I just discovered the town of Andale... I highly suggest everyone looks for it, it's a riot. Let's just say appearances are deceiving, and you are faced with a hilarious showdown.

Thank goodness for you guys! I'm sending mine off to be repaired for free! [thumbsup]
i've been crashing on a friend's couch for the last few weeks, and he just got fallout 3 for the 360. it is freaking amazing! i just started playing it today and can't seem to put it down! there's a few minor glitches here and there. sometimes a lag for a half second, and once in a while some clipping (radscorpion trying to chase after you but is stuck half inside a rock)
overall though, pretty BA [thumbsup]
