Title: A Throttle Lock that I highly recommend
Post by: DrNo08 on November 01, 2008, 10:32:28 PM
Took a gamble and bought this off Ebay for 4 bucks and it works like a charm.  I rode 60 miles today and used it.  Thought I'd share it here since I've not seen anyone talk about it.  Gotta love cheap simple fixes like this.  I'm using it on my monster and I have rizoma bar end mirrors and it still works.  Unlike the pictures in the link of the haybusa when my ring is disengaged it sits in that little rivet on the outside portion of my stock grip.  It doesnt get in the way there either since my hand rest in the inside portion of the grip.  You guys/gals might want to check it out.  You can thank me later.  ;)

Confused, you paid $4 bucks for an o-ring?

Did you click the link?  Yeah, it's just a rubber ring but it fits a handlebar grip perfectly.  A person could probably go to a hardware store and find something similar that will work as well but I got it cuz you can mail it back for a refund.  And it works great on my bike.  Pay over a hundred bucks for a fancy throttle lock or 4 bucks for something that does the same thing.

Great idea actually. Can't wait for some ass-hat lawyer to patent the ring, like they did the wheel a few years ago.

Dietrich did the same thing. Got an o-ring from the hardware store and it works great. Way cheaper than $4, so the return policy is a moot point...

the o-ring "cruise control" is an old trick...... but still a great one.

you get what you pay for. i have a throttlemiester(not $4), it's been there for three years, works every time, impossible to break, malfunction, or steal.  if the o-ring pinches in between the throttle sleeve( a dry o-ring has tremendous binding friction) & the bar end, you may have to make a collision decission with a stuck throttle.    :'(
