right, so the thing is being released in Milano on Tuesday.

I have no experience with this sort of thing, so to the experienced riders out there, with your weight further upright instead over the front of the bike - how do you keep the front wheel interested in the tarmac?

I understand that you lengthen the wheelbase, and relax the head angle a bit....but seriously 155hp on the street?

check the exhaust and pipes.....wicked! and the diameter of the forks!

If i wanted  jap looking  bike i would buy the naked yamaha for 14k  [puke]

155hp [roll] a tickled s4rs has about the same Hp so keeping the wheel down isn't a problem .Cant say the same after you tickle the street fighter a bit :o

Saying that its all about the wrist action and most  guys have had plenty of experiance with that [cheeky]

Not as much as the S4RS though. Not sure where it will be placed in the market though. Competition is either alot cheaper or alot faster (Yami FZ, Super Duke and and B-King) Dont tthink anyone is buying the new Brutale or Moto Morini which may be a close match for the Euro Market  :-\

Will still reserve judgement until I see the side profile, but I'm already liking it more than the new Monsters

I don't mind the look, but I'm not 100% convinced until I see it in a different colour and the photo's aren't so dark.
I just think for the 1098 naked, Ducati could and should have been more aggressive with the look and layout.

Hmmm ...

Reminds me a bit of the Benelli, sort of like a giant mechanical monster chewed up a big box of parts then barfed them up in the rough shape of a motorbike.  So, in case you haven't guessed, I'm not a fan.  I do, however, reserve the right to change my mind when I've seen one in the flesh.

On the other hand I saw a new 1100 monster on the weekend and IMHO it's very fine indeed.  [thumbsup]

At least what resulted from that union would be half cool  ;D

Yep, liked it from hte start, Open clutch cover, piss off the mirrors, I think it will be a winner. Its not unlike a S4RS just new styling. I think it looks heaps better than the 1100 monster.

After seeing Steph's 696 I like the look of the new shape Monster [thumbsup], I likey a lot this new street fighter as well, move with the times people.

Last time I looked all ducs were desmos.

That's my point, but I was more getting at the jive talk on this thread that the Streetfighter's visual style ain't unique, comparing it to the ER-6 and such.

I like it from the start. I wonder where the pricing will fit within the range. Better to go the "S" for better suspension.

When the 696 was released I wasn't convinced. It started to grow on me and having seen the 1100 Monster, I now like it.

I guess monster owners are traditionalists. We don't like change because we bought a bike that changed little over its model run.

I see this as a new bike rather than a 4v monster replacement.

Don't really know what to make of it. As I don't intend on losing my baby anytime soon I don't really look at what is out there in the marketplace so most comparisons are lost on me.

Power is a big thing for a lot of people which may influence their thinking but since we are looking at photos I will talk about my thinking on the styling:

I like the fact that you can see a bit more trellis style frame as this is still one of the things I don't like about the new monsters (non-trellis sub-frame). I like the low profile (monster) mirrors but they look a bit cheap and nasty in the flesh.

The headlight and surround look OK from the front but in profile looks a bit droopy (too bulky, low and forward). The exhaust seem too bulky and wrongly located - why bother with the SSS if you are going to cover up the rear wheel with something so bulky?

But my biggest issue is that I still can't understand a liquid cooled naked bike. It is just too hard to get a minimalist (i.e. naked) look with the arse end of a fridge stuck to the front of the bike.

To me it looks more Hypermotard than Monster, have Ducati created too many niches for themselves? ... I think I would prefer a Monster 1100.

I think they are trying to compete with the i4 nakeds, as in how fast it will go. They have sacrificed the nekidness for hp.

The Monster is a naked, the streetfighter has just got her top off showing off her t*ts!  ;D

Boobies for visual pleasure if fine, but when they are purposefully full of fluid they don't quite have the same attraction for me .... some may think differently though.

Looked at numerous nakeds at the expo and that was my biggest gripe.  So many you would get on, look down and the first thing you see is a radiator cap poking out in the middle of nowhere like they built the bike then just stuck the rad in the front and hoped noone would notice.
Some do it OK like the Brutale  [thumbsup] but others like the Moto Morini are woeful.  [puke]

A liquid cooled 4v is the way they see being able to compete in the Hp race of the manufacturers, 1100 M is for the "traditionalists"..... IMO.
Would a change from my 4v s4rs to an 1100 M be an upgrade? Think not, I believe the streetfighter is to fill the void left by the removal of the s4rs from the Duc range, thats all..

I love the way you 'rad' guys keep coming up with excuses for ugliness ... it may be an upgrade, but is it an improvement? ;)

It is easy for me to poke fun when I have more than enough power for my limited abilites in my little 800, the water cooling isn't really that bad [roll] but is a welcome deletion from the monster line  [laugh]
