Post by: stopintime on November 03, 2008, 03:06:06 PM I think you might want to look into rotating the bars back to avoid the elbows-out position. If I'm right you will have less fatigue, loose elbows and much better riding position. At least, this is how I see it :)

Question about removing the little windscreen. Did you notice any difference with more wind? Not that the stock one really did much to start, but just wondering. Title: Re: 696 rizoma lux grips, handlebar, crg brakes, mirrors... Post by: lazarus7 on November 04, 2008, 06:16:15 AM not enough difference to notice....
maybe if youre running head down on the tank at over 100mph for extended periods; but other than those conditions i cant imagine it making much of a difference.... Title: Re: 696 rizoma lux grips, handlebar, crg brakes, mirrors... Post by: DucHead on November 04, 2008, 06:26:05 AM Looks great... [thumbsup] ...now remove upper triple clamp and bar mounts and have them powdercoated black. While you're at it, sand/file down any casting lines. ;)

Title: Re: 696 rizoma lux grips, handlebar, crg brakes, mirrors... Post by: dutchy73 on November 06, 2008, 04:02:35 PM How difficult was it to swap out the grips? Did you trash the old ones in the process? I laways hated swapping out grips on my bicycles and wondering if there are any tips/tricks you guys could share to make it easier.
Title: Re: 696 rizoma lux grips, handlebar, crg brakes, mirrors... Post by: lazarus7 on November 06, 2008, 08:19:07 PM piece of cake, actually....
get the longest, skinniest screwdriver/ coathanger you can find, slide it under the stock rubber grip all the way through and lift slightly shoot some wd40/ chainlube/ blaster under there, twist, voila. or you can use compressed air if youve got an airgun and burp them off.... just make sure the bar is clean and solvent free before you install the new grips... rizomas are a hair oversized, and therefore slip right on no effort... clutch side has 2 allen setscews, throttle is obviously attached to throttle cam.... easy 15 min deal. ;D on bicycles, try sliding them back on with hairspray, kinda glues them in place, but not advisable if you ride a lot of wet conditions best to just burp them on dry.
