Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: flanman on November 04, 2008, 02:09:53 PM I think it looks great! Reminds me of the Ducati Scrambler (newer one off one)
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: roggie on November 04, 2008, 02:12:04 PM nice tail chop [thumbsup]
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Labbedds on November 04, 2008, 02:22:40 PM The only BMW i'd ever own bike wise, think it looks great [thumbsup] If ducati made a scrambler conversion kit for my s2r i'd do it in a second
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: pennyrobber on November 04, 2008, 02:25:20 PM Looks good. Sometimes BMW can get it right, other times ???.
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Autostrada Pilot on November 04, 2008, 02:46:11 PM That is a sweet bike.
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Travman on November 04, 2008, 03:02:06 PM I think it looks great! Reminds me of the Ducati Scrambler (newer one off one) I agree. Of course the exhaust would be hard to handle, but perhaps the sections near the rider's body could be made of double-walled, ceramic coated special pipes that do not transfer heat to the rider. Maybe a carbon fiber covering would work. I have carbon fiber mufflers on my Monster. After a ride I can touch the mufflers without being burned. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: sbrguy on November 04, 2008, 03:17:23 PM bike looks great except for the absolutely horrible headlight and tail chop.
that single seat thing without something behind it is awful. the exhaust looks great though. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: eltristo on November 04, 2008, 03:19:18 PM Lovely! The number plate seems a bit silly, though; I can't imagine it being all that dirtable. Of course, the 1200GS can handle it, so, why not?
And I agree that the headlight / bracket needs a little more love. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Oldfisti on November 04, 2008, 03:19:39 PM I'm loving the bobber tail! SSS with spokes? I say [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [clap]
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: tilt on November 04, 2008, 03:47:27 PM that reminds me of cellis bike that was just featured as bike of the month

Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: DucFanatic on November 04, 2008, 04:26:22 PM guys, i'm freaking out! how's it staying upright?!
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Lukey on November 04, 2008, 04:47:10 PM Equal parts:
1. Triumph Scrambler 2. KTM Duke 3. BMW HP2 4. Confederate Hellcat 5. Alien ...the everyman's bike? I think they could pull it off...the only problem is that nobody rides the above bikes! Time to put it in a movie. Or have Obama riding it in a commercial. People go crazy over that guy. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: SSSA on November 04, 2008, 05:23:05 PM That BMW is SWEET!
If it was cheap I would buy fo-sho! Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: clubhousemotorsports on November 04, 2008, 05:46:17 PM Oh crap!
I think I am having a mid life crisis or something, I am too young to like a BMW. Please tell me the Italians styled this thing , I really don't want to start thinking of myself as brandist but BMW's are something that people don't ride for their looks. I like it.... there I said it. Crap! is that a gray hair? Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: bulldogs2k on November 04, 2008, 06:40:19 PM I would do it! Love that raw industrial look....shinra corp. for all the final fantasy 7 fans.
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: pennyrobber on November 04, 2008, 06:40:31 PM guys, i'm freaking out! how's it staying upright?! That's the new anti-gravity side-stand. BMW has always been known for putting new technology into their bikes. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: m1moto on November 05, 2008, 07:41:48 AM I prefer this version with the retro tailpiece (http://static.blogo.it/motoblog/la-bmw-lo-rider-la-moto-creata-da-voi/big_bmw_lo_rider_eicma_2008_2.JPG) Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: A.duc.H.duc. on November 05, 2008, 08:21:23 AM Those rims are hot. I dig it. It's just a concept, with some work, I think it could be really great.
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Travman on November 05, 2008, 09:45:22 AM The cool thing about this bike is that it is designed to be modular. If you don't like the techno dual headlights then order the round one. If you don't like the high pipes then get the low ones. If you want a cafe racer look then it is available. I think it is an awesome concept. I hope they bring it to market.

Post by: eltristo on November 05, 2008, 10:36:33 AM The cool thing about this bike is that it is designed to be modular. Now that is cool! Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: DCXCV on November 05, 2008, 10:45:23 AM I prefer this version with the retro tailpiece (http://static.blogo.it/motoblog/la-bmw-lo-rider-la-moto-creata-da-voi/big_bmw_lo_rider_eicma_2008_2.JPG) Yum. Turn the red lower engine bright beemer blue and that's not a bad bike. That headlight (or the interchangable round one) and those wheels would make the streetfighter a better bike visually. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Popeye the Sailor on November 05, 2008, 10:49:06 AM No chain maintenance and imagine having to do a valve job? Mmm...easy access.
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: A.B on November 05, 2008, 10:58:06 AM 1st thought when i saw the bike: "looks like a confederate hellcat"
2nd thought when i saw the bike: "looks like BMW has been spying on Celli" I know both of these things have already been said but dammit, I wanted to post. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: MikeZ on November 05, 2008, 11:16:27 AM Very cool.
The modular idea is great. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: metallimonster on November 05, 2008, 11:28:45 AM That bike looks cool as hell. All of those options would make it awesome. First BMW I've ever remotely been attracted to.
Travman, where did you find the pic with all of the different types? Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: The Don on November 05, 2008, 11:47:36 AM both of those bikes are tasty, do you think they will still be making them in 2058 when the Ozzy dollar rebounds?
Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Lukey on November 05, 2008, 11:59:06 AM You know...I think a certain custom bike is due credit for this one: Team Incomplete's Boxer from like 10 years ago...

Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Travman on November 05, 2008, 03:34:33 PM Travman, where did you find the pic with all of the different types? Here is where I found the pic with all the different versions:http://www.thebikergene.com/custom-bikes/bmws-bruising-1200cc-lo-rider-concept-shocking-and-sensational/#more-130 (http://www.thebikergene.com/custom-bikes/bmws-bruising-1200cc-lo-rider-concept-shocking-and-sensational/#more-130) The Low Rider name has been used by HD for over 30 years. It was kind of a pregnant dog move by BMW to use the name for their custom concept bike. Post by: clubhousemotorsports on November 05, 2008, 06:33:00 PM Hate to say it but maybe ducati should hire the design guy away from BMW before they become more of a threat [laugh]
I would seriously consider that BMW over the new monster re-style Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. It was kind of a pregnant dog move by BMW to use the name for their custom concept bike. that's why they called it "Lo rider" it's far cooler Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: SSSA on November 05, 2008, 09:00:07 PM "BMW have strongly indicated that they’ll release the Lo Rider for production if interest is sufficient..."
I'ld buy the one in the first row 3rd from the top -- #49 in white with the red engine case. Hot. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: DucHead on January 13, 2009, 04:57:36 PM Kinda cool that BMW is asking for input.
Might have been interesting if Ducati did the same thing re the new Monster. Title: Re: New concept BMW lo-rider (bike).. Post by: Pedro-bot on October 07, 2009, 08:20:45 AM Anyone heard any rumors of this bike being put into production by BMW? Did a quick Google search but found no updates.

Might have been interesting if Ducati did the same thing re the new Monster. Perhaps we'd make suggestions like an easily choppable tail, a tank that doesn't dent, and more power? Oh wait..... :P |
