Title: Spools on Aluminum Swingarm?
Post by: udracing57 on November 05, 2008, 09:03:23 AM
Hi, I have searched this topic but cannot seem to find a definitive answer.  I have a 2001 M900s.  It has the aluminum swingarm which has bungs welded on either side.  They do not seem to be threaded so I don't think that you are supposed to intall spools at these points.  Are these bungs supposed to be used as "spools"?  If so are the compatible with most spooled rear stands?  Thanks for your help.

Maybe if you posted a photo of your swingarm?

Aluminum swingarms designed to be used with a spooled stand look like this:

Together with a proper front stand, the bike is very steady, allowing removal of both wheels as well as the forks.  This is right before I removed my forks for servicing:
