It would be nice if our stars and thread count form TOB could come with us. Anyone agree.
I paid the $25 to be a Titanium member about 2 weeks before the end. It never showed me as a Titanium member so I hope somehow it didn't go through.

It would be extremely difficult for us manage that, sorry. We would have to cross reference each member, and then add posts here to get up to the same amount.

If you are worried about the money, I am sure you can shoot Jeff H. at monsterparts.com an email - I think he was still processing the Ti packages - I don't know for sure though.

My philosophy is that this is a different board, not a reboot of another one.
I, too, cringe a bit when I see my stars and post count here. It wasn't very high on The Other Board (4 stars, 474 posts), and it took a year and a half to get there (at just under one post per day, average), but it was less newbie-ish than it is here. I figure in another year and a half I'll be somewhere in the same vicinity on this board.

What this forum needs right now is a bunch of quality posts. The forum is no good without content worth reading.
Making posts with the total content being a couple of smilies or some variant of LOL doesn't actually add much of value.
If you want stars, you have to earn them.
Quality is subjective, no? Expressing appreciation at someone's posting builds community. Personally I value that as much as jokes about boobies and WD-40 being a good cleaning agent. As long as nobody is injured in the making of such comments- post away, says I!

I don't know... I was just about to break 1000 and now I am at 9. The 1000 posts included a lot of "accessories and mod" threads and not a lot of chatter. Too bad I can't bring some of my archives over. But I will candidly admint I like this forum better. Well, really, it looks like the old DML. I hope the mods don't sell this forum. Good job! to the SUPER 8 and who ever else contributed to this forum.

+1 on not caring about stars. although I didnt have many by comparison (@400).
But concerning onesself about a high post count is reminiscent of some somewhat juvenile boards ( vwvortex sometimes) where people seem to "Shotgun blast" the boards with tiny quips.
I enjoy reading ALL posts and contrubute sometimes ( sometimes I shouldnt).. but are stars and post counts really necessary?

Most of the Flounders had in the thousands also on TOB. Granted, we have had more time on the DMF to type than everyone else, but we are only in the hundreds now. You can catch us if you really want. We all started over at 0.

give members some other form of recognition when they contribute in some way (TBD) to the board. admin and mods would deterimine worthiness of posts.
maybe little red ducati dots instead of stars
example: Scott R has already started a thread which is encompassing the history of TOB. IMO this is a valuable asset to this community. This kind of thing would earn him a little ducati circle under his member name.
once a certain number of circles are earned, they get bigger (i.e. - 5 small circles = 1 larger circle, etc....
this would be a better way to determine the value of a members contribution than sheer number of posts

That's a good idea but I think it would become rather tedious for the admins.
so are post count, stars, and title (ie. new member, jr member, etc.) proportionate to each other?
if im correct does all that redundancy have any purpose?
is rethinking this like herm posted an option? or is it ingrained in the program this board runs on?

Yes.
Many boards are now instituting processes whereby users can add points for a poster by voting a posting useful. It's called different things, but you get the idea. Often, voting is enabled only in certain sections. For example, NMC would probably not be a good place to enable voting.
I think there's room for both systems - a post count could let people know how talkative someone is, while reputation voting could help with figuring out how closely to pay attention to someone.
Can we bring the TOB red dot over here? I really enjoyed that little thingy.
