As my wife and I will be doing the supers and then dropping down to Tassie, I was just thinking about clothing for the wife, helmet and gloves are fine, but I think she could do with decent boots, jacket, pants etc, is there anything I've missed?
Knowing (not really) that the weather can be a bit fickle from time to time, what would be the more appropriate type of clothing all you ladies are using or looking at that fit the female form?

Well Mick this is what i have, but i haven't been riding is tassie, so i don't know if these apparel is any good.

if it iis going to be cold i normally wear tighs under my leather and thick socks to keep  my feet warm. Also might want to think of wearing a neck warmer or a balaclava, then wear thermal as well.

Ha now you're asking,  My motorbike wardrobe is more extensive than my street clothes.

Since I moved to Vic I have increased what I wear somewhat from West Oz.  These days I have a Dri Rider Summit jacket  and Dri rider extreme pant. Both come in female sizes and both waterproof and windproof with zip out liners just in case it warms up.

BMW boots (not as expensive as you'd think) one of the few brands I've found small enough for my feet (Euro 38) and not too tight everywhere else. (and made in Italy).  I like the look of Jukie's new boots on another thread somewhere.

A neck sock is a must to keep out the chills.  And layer upon layer of thermals. I use merino skins but any thermals will do. Wearing thermals under the pants helps get em on and off too. They pack up small if the weather gets warm and dry super fast when you wash em.

But now summer's nearly here I have ordered myself some Tiger Angel leather pants for Xmas.  Might get to wear them for a day to two round here.

On the turismo I spotted some people wearing Skins compression pants and tops.  As worn by sportspeople and they swear by them for getting leather pants on and off and for making you fell better after long days on the bike (yep getting old.)

Tassie weather is very variable.  I went there for Xmas/New Year.  Got hypothermia one day and sunburnt three days later! But excellent place to go for a ride.

What brand are those lovely boots of yours?  I'm almost due for a new pair.  Gotta pay for the new pants first though!

there are called Gaerne and they come in very tiny sizes as my was a size 38 euro which is about a size 6 and they even had smaller than that.

They are sporty, but not too sporty if you know what I mean. Plus they have some funky Drytech lining which is meant to keep your tootsies dry (could be handy on any tour, but particularly Tassie?) - yet to be tested in that regard.

Jukie, sorry to say this but I had a pair of Gaerne boots that were my first purchase. I got the waterproof / sports version which I thought would work well for communiting as well as a when I have a blast. Waterproof was because you never know when you'll need them while commuting. There boots have ankle, toe, shin protection & waterproof - they had it all!

The problem was that they leaked like a sieve from day one and worse still, after 6 months the zipper stitching at the ankle point started to come undone on both boots! I took them back expecting Gaerne to replace them but all they did was replace the zippers ... it was all a bit of a mess and the same thing started happening again. I wore them every day for almost 2 years so in the end I guess I got the value out of them but I swore I wouldn't get them again.

I've now got 2 pairs of boots, SIDI for everyday and Alpine Star for wet weather and winter.

Jukie, I really hope you have better luck with yours than I did. (tip.. keep the receipt just in case!)

Mmick, I just got a pair of RJays scotchlite over pants and they're fantastic. Cheap, light and packdown well and the water beads up and runs off beautifully. The perfect thing when you get caught in the rain whilst cummuting / touring. They're also really easy to get on over your pants even with boots on as they have an internal lining. You can't go wrong with these [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
