Title: chris king bottom bracket
Post by: sbrguy on November 10, 2008, 02:16:32 PM
anyone of you bicycling people install this on your bike yet?

i know we have a bunch of really well off and rich people here so there has to be at least one of you that has put this on a bicycle when it came out and used it so far.

i'm considering putting this on but want some feedback as to if its worth the 3x the price of a dura ace bb.

King headsets and bottom brackets are at the top of the parts food chain by anybody's standard. I have both and you'd be suprised at how many people see them and say " WOW, King, nice". [thumbsup]

IMO nothing is worth 3X unless the weight difference is HUGE. Look around and see if you can find a Ti BB or other similar high end like Race Face on sale. I got a Specialized Ti bracket for my Fisher Paragon for about $50-60 because of the odd size of the bracket.

OMG... after years and years of waiting they finally made a BB.  too bad i don't care any more.  finally the industry stayed with one style long enough for CK to get something out.

I'm sure it is really nice, what's the price on that?

I might get one for the replacement IF. I had a King headset on the old one that lasted 8+ years until I went threadless.  The CAAD9 I ordered has a BB30 setup and In the interest of not adding more weight, i'll probably go with a BB30 crank.
