Looking good despite that. The wheel tape's a nice touch Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: dutchy73 on November 17, 2008, 05:23:07 PM Bike looks good. But yeah, +1 regarding the emissions canister. I picked up the EU shroud from the good folks at Moto Wheels. Also, might I suggest blacking out the exhaust hangers?
All around, nice clean look. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on November 17, 2008, 05:57:20 PM wait whats the emissions can?
and yeah, i might powdercoat the exaust hangars black once i put the bike up for the winter. but to me it kind of goes with the rear sets. which is why i didn't do them at the same time as i did the headlight bracket and the tail chop kit... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: dutchy73 on November 17, 2008, 06:00:51 PM wait whats the emissions can? Here is the thread that should shed some light on the matter... http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=8630.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=8630.0) Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: rosstermyer on November 17, 2008, 06:13:15 PM i have got to get my headlight trim painted/powdercoated. that looks killer.
im really digging your grips as well. looking forward to see the 5 spoked twists when you get them. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on November 17, 2008, 06:14:45 PM ok, yeah thats a possibility. i don't mind the look of it though w/ the canister. it makes the bike look beefier on the side that its on. it sounds like its more trouble than its worth. but i might do it the same time i install the frame slider.
also does it void the warranty? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on November 17, 2008, 06:17:17 PM i have got to get my headlight trim painted/powdercoated. that looks killer. im really digging your grips as well. looking forward to see the 5 spoked twists when you get them. hey thanks man! and yeah i can't wait for those rims either. i don't know if i'm more excited about the 5 spokes or the 180 rear tire! Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: dutchy73 on November 17, 2008, 06:27:26 PM ok, yeah thats a possibility. i don't mind the look of it though w/ the canister. it makes the bike look beefier on the side that its on. it sounds like its more trouble than its worth. but i might do it the same time i install the frame slider. also does it void the warranty? funny enough, there is a thread happening in the general forum. But since my dealer is the one that told me to take it off to help clean up the look on front of the bike, I'd say no. Although, a dealer might be giving another user on this board a hard time about this very topic. So check with your dealer first. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Takster on November 17, 2008, 09:00:48 PM I took mine all the way off... moved the regulator and the horn. I just like seeing more of the engine. When in doubt, I vote for more naked.
Do you forsee any problems with a 180 rear clearing the rearhugger? Can't wait to see how it comes out. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Privateer on November 18, 2008, 07:14:43 AM looks nice.
If you flip over the stock mirror mounts, it'll hide the unsightly bolts from the OEM mirrors. Just a thought. Andy Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: BaZgA on November 18, 2008, 07:35:15 AM How are mirrors compared to stock (or even better CRGs)?
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on November 18, 2008, 07:46:02 AM I took mine all the way off... moved the regulator and the horn. I just like seeing more of the engine. When in doubt, I vote for more naked. Do you forsee any problems with a 180 rear clearing the rearhugger? Can't wait to see how it comes out. no problems at all. i talked to a couple dealerships and they said that the new wheels are made for the 696 and made for 180 tires to fit as a direct fit! why they didn't make the 696 come with a 5.5" rim i'll never know... i just looked at their direct competition, the 675 speed triple, and sure enough triumph put a 180 on it... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Slide Panda on November 18, 2008, 08:18:22 AM Well, the 696 doesn't really need it. Hell all the 900s probably didn't need it either. Also looking at the street trip - they claim 108 bhp vs the 80 bhp of the 696.
One thing to research would be the weight of the new wheel and tire vs the current set up. If the weight for the 5-spoke + Tires much more than the stocker you might be really disappointed when the bike slows up a bit Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on November 18, 2008, 10:31:27 AM i'm sure i won't mind it one bit
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: sfarchie on November 18, 2008, 02:40:11 PM Any tips/advice on how to put the wheel tape? I'm anal and can see myself taking forever to get it right. [bang]

[bang] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41Wd_GSUSnc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41Wd_GSUSnc) I ordered a generic set, and there was no way to get them in a perfect circle. [coffee] Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on November 18, 2008, 06:36:54 PM Like it a lot!!! He makes it look easy, and I'm sure he's done thousands of them. What if I don't have a stand like that? I'll suppose it'll make installing the rim stripes that much harder. [thumbsup] Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: terrapete on November 21, 2008, 10:29:35 AM Very nice upgrades! [thumbsup] If you are coating your exhaust brackets, see if you can make them shorter and get rid of the space between your tail section and the exhausts. I did this to my bike and thought it made things look even better as it exposes more of the rear wheel.

anyway, it gets rid of that out of place blue on the old sticker... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Moschy on December 11, 2008, 04:28:37 AM Hi there,
just a little question back to the headlight frame. Did you have to strip the paint before powder coating it? Thanks Thomas Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Raux on December 11, 2008, 05:08:08 AM paint? looks like the casting polished to me. i didnt do anything other than paint it. that being said, i wish i would have had it powdercoated and i probably will be finding a local shop this winter for that.

Tough to see how much you see of those beautiful wheels. Looks like the swingarm covers the back. And the rotors cover most of the front. However, the rear tire looks fantastic.

edit: by the way, the bike looks incredible... how come you still have the charcoal canister? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on February 22, 2009, 12:47:23 PM i think if the swing arm matched the rearsets it would be no contrast back there. i don't think that would look good at all like that...
if you look at the bike, there are a lot of different shades of blacks on it. if it was all the same black, nothing would stand out at all. i think it all looks good the way it is... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: stopintime on February 22, 2009, 02:48:36 PM I agree with you on the different shades thing [thumbsup]
Q: did you have trouble refitting the foot pegs after PC'ing the rearsets? Q: did you experience any damage, heated rubber, to the elastic bushing in the rearsets, after PC'ing? Advice: the powder coating in the handlebar clamps might wear off/peel off. Either sand it off or at least tighten OFTEN. Loose bars = bad. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: StandTall on February 22, 2009, 03:20:34 PM i think if the swing arm matched the rearsets it would be no contrast back there. i don't think that would look good at all like that... if you look at the bike, there are a lot of different shades of blacks on it. if it was all the same black, nothing would stand out at all. i think it all looks good the way it is... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Holden on February 22, 2009, 04:24:46 PM conversely, I wonder how the aluminum swingarm would look without any paint at all.
or if the footpeg carrier (they aren't rearsets) got a sanded, paintless treatment... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: monstermania on February 22, 2009, 05:17:21 PM Looks sweet, good job. Did everything go smooth with the removal and install of the sets?

LOVE the asv levers and speedymoto sprocket cover. i'm not sure if i like the frame sliders. i know they are for the safety of the bike, but the look is really bothering me at the moment. i'll have to sleep on it and stare a little tomorrow and the next few days. if i decide i don't like them i might have a nice new set of motovation frame sliders for sale. let me know if any of you guys are interested in them. i should have some pics up tomorrow... next on the asap list, in order is... dp low seat dp carbon fiber timing belt cover and a little bit later... dp 14t front sprocket dp rear sprocket dp red chain and hopefully, once i get those mods done i should be done for quite a while... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Holden on March 17, 2009, 11:37:05 PM and hopefully, once i get those mods done i should be done for quite a while... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: DucatiTorrey on March 18, 2009, 03:10:09 AM MRplease, if you dont like them i may be interested in the frame sliders. PM me.
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on March 18, 2009, 06:38:52 AM Yeah, until someone comes out with some irresistible rearsets and clipons. ;D What were your thoughts on removing (or not removing) the charc can and entire plastic shroud? well, since i powder coated them i actually like my "rearsets" and i ride 2 up with my son so i really need the passenger pegs. as for the charc can i actually like it on the 696. to me it makes the little 696 engine look a little beefier. without it i think it looks real bare in the place where it was. i'll be keeping mine... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on March 21, 2009, 06:16:40 AM like i said if anyone is interested in the frame sliders let me know. i think i'm going to take them off this week...

Bikes lookin good mrplease. How do you like your Rizoma Reverse Retro mirrors? How's the vibes compared to stock mirrors (using stock I can tell there's somethin' behind me, but not what it is or more importantly if it hs blue n red light on the roof...). Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: DucatiTorrey on April 06, 2009, 08:36:13 AM Nice. Does the touring seat have a higher seat hieght?
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on April 06, 2009, 09:28:43 AM yeah it does. i'm not getting the lower seat because i need it lower. i just want a seat with red stitching. and i really like how its a two tone black also. i almost got the touring seat, but i don't like the looks of it on the 696. somebody else on this forum said "it makes the 696 look like it needs to go on a diet" and i thought he hit the nail on the head with that...
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on April 15, 2009, 08:09:26 PM got some new parts in the mail today!
ducati low seat speedymoto black crankcase cover hopefully it'll be nice this weekend so i can take some pics... oh, and i also got my personalized plate in the mail last week. it says "DUCATI". that was my 3rd or 4th choice. "MONSTR" & "M696" were already taken. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on April 19, 2009, 08:08:46 PM about the parts. i did install the speedymoto crankcase cover & the personalized plate. as for the seat i went to install it and opened the box and "OH #!$#@" it was the touring seat. well just for curiosity i stuck it on the bike. first off i didn't like the looks of it. then i sat on it and i didn't like the feel of it either. well needless to say i'm sending it back. i already contacted the vendor and they are going to straighten it out. so hopefully i'll have my low seat in a week or so...
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Willem C:E on April 19, 2009, 08:16:43 PM Very nice man. I got the pearl as well and im using this thread as inspiration!
I like the look of the ASVs...imo the pazzos look too, i dunno, toy-like. Do they have a model specific lever for the M696 or do the old monster ones fit? Also wondering, how much did it run you to powdercoat your bits and pieces? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on April 21, 2009, 10:44:29 AM Very nice man. Do they have a model specific lever for the M696 or do the old monster ones fit? Also wondering, how much did it run you to powdercoat your bits and pieces? thanks!!!! and yeah they do make a 696 specific brake and clutch lever. its basically the same as the 695 but it has a different shaped neutral kill switch. so i was told by robert morales. anyway, yeah i liked the look of them better than the pazzos from the pics. and man i was blown away buy the quality of the asv's when they arrived in the mail. it was for sure a good choice! as for the powdercoating i would say it should cost no more than $150-$200 to do everything. i paid much more since i did it in bits and pieces. it would def. be much cheaper to do them all at once... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on April 21, 2009, 10:48:03 AM ok, pics of my new mods...
speedymoto crankcase cover ducati personalized plate still waiting on the low seat (had to send back the wrong touring seat they sent me) (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh68/mrpleaseplease/monster/IMG_2752.jpg) (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh68/mrpleaseplease/monster/IMG_2755.jpg) Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on April 21, 2009, 10:53:09 AM well just for sh*ts & giggles i put on the touring seat just to see what it looked like. i did like the red stitching, but i don't like the over all shape of it compared to what the low seat looks like (or even the stock seat for that matter). i also like the fact that the low seat is a two toned black vs. just one black like the touring seat has...
anyway i snapped a few pics of the touring seat (before i sent it back) with & without the cowl... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on April 28, 2009, 10:01:07 AM well as for an update. i did get the ducati low seat and its on the bike. it looks killer and its more comfy than the stock seat. my only worry is the material where the driver sits. i'm not exactly sure what it is, but its kind of like a faux suede material. i'm a little worried about how it will wear later on down the road. i guess only time will tell.
anyway... like i said it looks sick. much better look than the stock seat. especially on a white or red one. i'm not sure it would look all that great on a dark 696 unless someone has a few red accents on it, because of the red stitching. but if a dark has red rim stripes etc. i think it would look awsome on it to. as for a comparison of the low seat vs. touring seat. i can give a little thoughts as i've actually had both on my bike. i personally think the low seat looks way better. to me it goes with the lines of the bike much better. and i like the red stitching pattern better. it also has a more comfortable stance on the bike. the touring seat makes the bar position uncomfortable as the touring seat makes you sit higher, the bars feel to low. the low seat also, due to the material and the angle of it, doesn't make your "manhood" press against the tank like the stock seat does. so it makes it more comfortable in that area as well. overall i love the seat & its to date one of my fav mods so far. pics will be coming as soon as it stops raining. its been raining here for days............... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Sleeper_I on April 28, 2009, 11:10:40 AM Glad you liked the lower seat Mr. So far mine had held up pretty well. It does look much better doesn't it ;D

Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: ungeheuer on May 08, 2009, 07:02:27 AM conversely, I wonder how the aluminum swingarm would look without any paint at all. ...been wondering this exact same thing myself lately... wonder what the best process would be to achieve a bare n semi-polished result.....? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on May 15, 2009, 06:58:42 AM ok, got some half ass pics up in the garage with the low seat on. i'll get some better outside pics up soon...
by the way the low seat looks killer!! it goes with the lines of the bike perfect! much better than the touring seat! (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh68/mrpleaseplease/monster/12.jpg) (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh68/mrpleaseplease/monster/11.jpg) (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh68/mrpleaseplease/monster/10.jpg) ok here is a list of my next mods but i need some opinions also... here is what i am for sure doing: dp 14t front lightweight sprocket dp 46t rear performace sprocket ceramic coating the pipes black (waiting until the winter to do this because the bike will be down for 2 weeks!!) here is what i need help on deciding what to do: timing belt covers? dp carbon fiber or rizoma black ones rearsets? i'm debating on getting the rizoma ones with the passenger peg kit? the thing is, i HAVE to have the passenger pegs because my son loves riding with me. but having the rearsets with the passenger pegs kind of ruins the reason for even getting them. it basically has the same looks as the stock ones, which in my opinion don't look bad at all powdercoated black. what do you guys think? you can check out the pics of the stuff here... http://www.rizoma.com/Prodotti/ProdottiSport.cfm?ID_categoria=72&firstLevelIndex=3&IDSez=2 (http://www.rizoma.com/Prodotti/ProdottiSport.cfm?ID_categoria=72&firstLevelIndex=3&IDSez=2) Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: stopintime on May 15, 2009, 11:33:17 AM My opinion
- carbon fiber belt covers over Rizoma (too much Rizoma looks Japanese?). - stock foot peg assembly over the very pricey aftermarket rearsets. I mean, if you're not doing it because you MUST have the pegs up/back, they don't pretty up the bike enough to justify the price. Maybe there are other mods which deserve your money more? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: ungeheuer on May 16, 2009, 03:39:46 AM My thoughts FWIW:
Since you wanna have passenger pegs, I'd skip the rear-sets - your powdercoated footpeg hangers look fine and there's no great aesthetic improvement by dumping them for pricey rear-sets with passenger peg kit. On a white bike, I think the CF belt cover look fabulous.... Your bike just keeps looking better n better mrplease.... I need to get some pics up here of mine, but I'm (still) waiting for my long ago ordered Speedymoto clip-ons and top triple to arrive..... [roll][coffee] Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on May 16, 2009, 11:07:01 AM My thoughts FWIW: Since you wanna have passenger pegs, I'd skip the rear-sets - your powdercoated footpeg hangers look fine and there's no great aesthetic improvement by dumping them for pricey rear-sets with passenger peg kit. [roll][coffee] thanks for the reply! i'm leaning exactly in your direction! i think i might go with dp carbon timing belt covers & not going with the rearsets. i almost think the stock ones look better than rearsets + passenger peg kit. also i might want to do the speedymoto clip ons & top triple. i want someone to be the guinea pig first though. which ones did you order? i was looking at these: top triple: 03-0205BLK clip-ons: 08-0250BLK <---- these do come with the bars, right? i'm only worried that they won't fit the tank when you turn the bars like the stock ones do. i wouldn't want it to hit the tank when turning it tight. because the stock bars fit perfectly where the air vents are. are you concerned about this? also when is the eta on the clip ons from speedy moto? Actually your taste in bling is very close to my own, I got me many of the same mods that you're running..... although in a different colour scheme. I like your seat too (but I'm happy with the appearance and ride comfort of my DP touring/comfort seat). How'd you rate the low seat on the nut-cracker scale? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on May 18, 2009, 06:46:32 AM Just keeps gettin better n better mrplease [thumbsup] Actually your taste in bling is very close to my own, I got me many of the same mods that you're running..... although in a different colour scheme. I like your seat too (but I'm happy with the appearance and ride comfort of my DP touring/comfort seat). How'd you rate the low seat on the nut-cracker scale? the low seat is great on the nuts. the angle and material keeps you from sliding into the tank... this is what she looks like when i take my son to school. the material on the back of the low seat is also better for passengers as its real grippy and keeps their butt in the same place. with my stock seat my son would slide against me and really smash "the boys" into the tank. thank you low seat [bow_down] (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh68/mrpleaseplease/monster/26.jpg) Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: stopintime on May 18, 2009, 08:17:09 AM With the color coordinated helmet and gloves, I can see you have an eye for details - so, allow me to be picky: how about powder coating the spring white and loosing the Termignoni stickers?

No disrespect intended, although I'm not sure if I can say in such a way frankly that it's not taken as such. Sorry. I do actually enjoy reading these forums and seeing what all folks are doing from a technical standpoint. Just can't relate I guess.
Anyway, I just don't get the whole extreme mods thing. It seems to me like just a big contest. I purchased my Ducati b/c I like the way it rides and I'm very happy with that but that's just me. I can understand some level of personalization but I just can't understand the extreme, at least from a stock bike. I guess my question is why not just build a custom bike from the ground up? If you want to see an example of "extreme" mods, look here: http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=11215.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=11215.0) mrplease has done some nice subtle tweaks, and a lot of the mods on his bike are OEM. None of the mods he has done are unique to his bike (that we know of), and he wasn't the first here to do most of them. All the mods on his bike other than the painting could have been done in a couple hours. We're here coz we have the same addiction....lol... we see and appreciate the work done by each other... some stuff gives inspiration for mods on our own machines.... some stuff not-so-much.... but the common interest in and the care for the mutually admired machine is what keeps me coming back here. Yeah, I really like that top triple too ;D. Just to be clear, I chose to mount the bars around 1.25" below the top triple, but there's no reason why they couldn't be mounted right up higher directly beneath the top-triple - doing so would make the bar height pretty near to the original bar height and I wanted to lower mine - not radically lower - Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 (currently torn apart!) DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT remove the gas tank!!!!!! that is a whole lot of wasted time, effort, and much trouble. as in his instructions the gas tank is in the way of two bolts you need to remove. but all you have to do is hold up the gas tank for about 20 seconds until you remove those two bolts. other than that the write up is golden! cost was $220 for me... I was looking forward to seeing how it looked. Can you confirm that the 47t will fit the under the chain guard? Seems to me like it would fit but somebody elsewhere suggested that it could be a problem? Cheers. i held it up to the bike just to see how it would look. but i would say i'm pretty positive it would fit w/o rubbing... Being new to all this I had no idea one could do do much to customise their bike. All I knew of this phenomina is what I have seen on tv. Which in my opinion is extreme. You my friend have shown me what a passion and brilliant attention to detail can achieve. I love what u have done. Personally I think nothing is over the top or too much. All your mods compliment each other with nothing standing out more than the other which in my opinion allows the bike to be the hero. And after all it's why we chose this bike in first place. i have a few very minor problems with the 696. here goes... when i start up my bike it make a real rough clanky sound and idle for about 4 seconds then its fine, and it runs normal all day. i have also noticed that my bike smells awful now. i think the smell started a few months ago when i removed the charcoal canister. it might be worse now. maybe not. is it normal for it to have a strong gas smell? it might be another smell than gas i just can't tell. my sense of smell is terrible. also i noticed the rough idle sound started around the time i unplugged my spark plugs and installed the two rizoma camshaft covers. oh, and if i start my bike up again while its still kinda warm it doesn't have that rough loud start up sound and idle. but if i let it sit for a whole day and start it the next day it does that problem again... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: danaid on September 26, 2009, 07:51:54 PM Did you recheck where you blocked off your intake manifolds, sounds like a vacuum leak.

so you guys think it has to do with my intake manifolds? is that the rough start up, the smell, or both? how do i check that thats the problem? or how do i fix it? or do i need to just replace my manifold plugs? and last where do i get the manifold plugs... the dealer? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on September 27, 2009, 05:16:43 AM Did you recheck where you blocked off your intake manifolds, sounds like a vacuum leak. how do i check / fix this? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: danaid on September 27, 2009, 07:23:14 AM Did you use vacuum caps or did you remove the nipples and add block off screws on the intake manifolds? Vacuum caps can crack over time, if you used block off screws, did you loctite them tight in place?
I added new m6 screws, washers and loctited them in place, had to clamp one of the newly rerouted vent line/vapor lines because of a loose fit. You also should check those crank case covers for looseness, I never had mine apart so I don't know if there was a gasket in there. Basically everything should be sealed up tight. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Howie on September 27, 2009, 07:36:40 AM Spray WD-40 around the screws or caps, whichever you have. If the idle changes you have a vacuum leak.
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on September 27, 2009, 08:01:42 AM does the vacuum leak have to do with the smell or the rough little idle thing?
the weird thing is that rough idle thing only last for maybe 2 seconds then the bike starts to run normal. there is no performance loss or anything like that. after the start up everything is running like normal... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: danaid on September 27, 2009, 10:35:52 AM The vacuum leak would be the rough idle. The smell would be the vapor/return hoses from your tank. Maybe a line pulled off of your tank? The trick howie mentioned works well, spray WD-40 on one part at a time to isolate the problem. Also check the fuel lines for leaks
It does seem odd the problem goes away after start up. Maybe its time to visit the dealer. Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on September 28, 2009, 03:33:48 PM well, we'll see. i dropped it off at the dealership today...
anyway, once i get it back i'll snatch some pics of my newest mods... Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: mrplease on October 01, 2009, 10:04:05 AM here are a couple shitty pics of my rizoma camshaft covers & rizoma rider & passenger pegs...

dropped the bike off at the dealership to figure out what was wrong with the clanky sound at start up. after trouble shooting awhile they figured out the problem was with one of the rizoma camshaft covers (the one i installed at the top). it seems the machining was off just on that one. while the other one fit snug this one was kind of loose. after they put the stock camshaft cover on problem solved. anyway i sent the bad one back to motovation usa and they sent me a brand new one. installed it and boom problem solved! can't believe it was something that simple. the dealership charged me $100 though >:( Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: ungeheuer on October 18, 2009, 01:06:18 AM The money that Rizoma charges for their stuff... you outgha be able to expect it to fit right first time, without an extra $100 kick in the wallet on top. Anyway, good that you got it sorted and that it was nothing major [thumbsup]
Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Raux on October 18, 2009, 01:26:55 AM yeah you think Rizoma would have covered that repair bill. maybe send it to them? or at least ask the question to their customer service

Commonwealth has an OEM ordering system that is the best I have ever used. If their site was not currently down I could get the price for a factory cover and buy a spare in case I really fudge up the one I have now. I was not even going to cover the area with plexiglass. Pretty much just cut out everything between the mounting points leaving the cover over the same areas that the three piece speedymoto covers are attached at. But, to be honest I spend money on all of my toys and it's the same with anything. You could always get the next best thing and mod that but there is always something better. When I was building cars, after dumping close to 10k into a z28 I was thinking "shit I could have had a vette for that price" at the same time I would have modded the vette and REALLY been broke. So I say ride what ya got. If you can afford better, great, if not, make the beast with two backs it. I am a broke student who spend 100% of his money on riding and I wouldn't have it any other way. Any other advice for me? Do you have any new and or updated pics; can you share? Title: Re: pics of my modded 696 Post by: Raux on September 21, 2014, 09:07:09 AM check the tutorials. Very clean customizations, too!
This build is being featured in the BikeBuilds.net[/URL] We’re currently displaying only a reduced-size photo (similar to what you’d find in Google Images). We'd like to ask for your permission to publish the original full-size image with your build listing. If anyone would like to have a build of their own listed, just send me a message with a link to the build thread and we’ll take care of the rest. Cristian |
