Title: Winter mod-itis is setting in... Post up your plans!! Post by: Chchadder on November 18, 2008, 06:09:55 PM So its getting cold to the degree (pun intended) that I am thinking of putting the bike up in accessible and workable storage for the winter, so that on those freak 50 degree days I can grab her and get out for at least a few hours. Although with all that I want to do to her this year, I don't know if there'll be enough parts left on the bike to actually ride it. Below is a list of what I am hoping to do this winter. Interested in seeing what everyone else is planning on doing.
Powder coat new white wheels that are a pregnant dog to clean in gold (kind of like 1098r gold) Anodize forks black (originally wanted gold, but see above...) Lower headlight and gauges (on the way this week actually) and clean up wiring behind the headlight Powder coat or paint front and rear brake caliper carriers black Repaint tank, seat cowl, and front fender gloss black with gold stripe Pull engine and VHT coat black (fixing a few things here and there along the way) Replace clutch and rear brake lines with Speiglers in black/titanium to match the front Ummm...I think that's it. Pretty much planning on pulling everything off at once if possible. Ship off what I'm not doing myself, and work on the rest while the pieces are out. That's the plan anywho... Lets see everyone else's plans for the winter!! Title: Re: Winter mod-itis is setting in... Post up your plans!! Post by: Buckethead on November 18, 2008, 07:41:21 PM 2006 Sport 1000 is gonna get:
Superbike forks and new clip-ons. S*R top triple. Top-mount steering damper. Ceramic coated header. Custom exhaust. LED rear lights and tail chop. Upgraded headlight. 10-spoke wheels and new front tire. Upgraded brake pads and probably rotors. And if there's enough money left over, its going to Nate for some fresh paint. Title: Re: Winter mod-itis is setting in... Post up your plans!! Post by: Chchadder on November 18, 2008, 08:19:07 PM Yep, just sent Nate an email as well...
I'd love to do the triple as well, but figure that might have to wait. :'( Title: Re: Winter mod-itis is setting in... Post up your plans!! Post by: Capo on November 18, 2008, 09:39:36 PM Finish up what I started last winter ;D
Title: Re: Winter mod-itis is setting in... Post up your plans!! Post by: sfarchie on November 18, 2008, 10:25:42 PM My plans have nothing to do with my M696, but with my 1958 totalled Vespa Allstate. If I can find a frame, I'll work on that. I was supposed to also get a dead Night Hawk that just needs a new clutch, but the seller never got back to me.
I still plan to ride my M696 through our mild Northern Cal winters, so only a seat replacement. Rode for a few hours today and I lost feeling on my arse within an hour like a new prisoner in San Quentin...not that I would know what that's like. :o Title: Re: Winter mod-itis is setting in... So far all I've put on are reflective white rim stripes (I think they look awesome!). I've also ordered the DP touring seat, (cant wait for that to arrive as I've heard some great things about it). I'll also do a 14T front sprocket at my 600m tune up (only have 250m on it now). But I'd like to do more. Any suggestions? ;D Title: Re: Winter mod-itis is setting in... Post up your plans!!
