Canada high court rules that fatties get two airline seats for the price of one!!

Supreme Court of Canada rules for those 'functionally disabled by obesity'
updated 2 hours, 19 minutes ago
OTTAWA - Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday.
The high court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare.
The airlines had lost an appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal in May and had sought to launch a fresh appeal at the Supreme Court. The court's decision not to hear a new appeal means the one-person-one-fare policy stands. etc etc

All I have to say is that my 5'11" 200Lbs self. can barley fit in those Munckin sized seats. >:(
That's lame. Why can't i have 2 seats as well then? It's skinny bastard discrimination!!! >:(
the might as well give them two seats........no one else will be able too use the seat next to them anyway. besides, the plane will have to reduce weight somewhere..........
but they should have to pay for it.
Wells it better than having a person rolling on to your seat..... :-\

it is better but then again, your ticket price now goes up to subsidize the loss of seat sales.
I think they should just charge like freight.
Dimensions of human?
Weight of human?
rate=based on space occupied.

Hence the dimensions listing too. One can only weigh say, 150 lbs, but if you're 4'8", well, you're taking up a lot of seat space too.

I guess use the UPS dimensional weight chart?
It just nauseates me. At least charge them 50% for the extra seat! Talk about rewarding people for having shitty life choices!

Damn canadians and their crazy laws. Im suprised there hasnt been a suit here in the US yet. or has there and i havent seen it.

There are several cases of individuals suing things like theatres for not having fatass seats, but most get thrown out.
I just have....no pity.
If I'm lighter than the average person, how come I have to pay extra for baggage over the weight limit?

Because you come with a lot of baggage :-*
as one of the typical "fat americans" this does bother me. i HAVE NEVER asked for anything free (except food) based solely on the fact that im fat.
i hate people that ask for free shit for no reason.
i cant say that i wouldnt like the second seat though. i remember the seats being too small for me when i was younger and lighter and smaller before i was an above average sized person.
I say the seats are too small period. They have us jammed in there like sardines. [popcorn]
;D

www.seatguru.com (http://www.seatguru.com) gives the exact seat widths for all airlines / planes and classes.
Smallest is 17.8" (economy class seat) on a regular jet and 17.2" wide on a regional jet (like the CRJ jets)
i think the airline seat is a good measure of your health. if your ass fits but your sides hang over, it's time to put down the spoon.
