Going to Italy next year this is on my list of "must dos"   [bow_down]

Doing the same,My plan is to fly into Sardengia arround July then ride to Bologna with the (http://ducatimonsterclub.it/forum/Themes/EnglishSteel/images/on.gif) (Ducati Monster Club) of Sardengia.

Sounds good, there would have to be some nice rides around sardegna, surely? Also just wondering where does the ferry from sardegna dock on the mainland?
We are spending our time up north mainly, milan to como, maybe venice, bologna (of course), we're also thinking of getting a ferry across to split, depends on how much time I can get off from work but 6 weeks should be enough.

Hopefully we'll get to have a look around one day too. Pretty sure I had seen that video before.

At one point (it may have been his accent, my hearing or both) but it sounds like he calls the 'production line' the 'seduction line'.

To a newbie it must be seductive working at the factory, but even after it becomes (or should become) boring and repetitive, it sounds as though the workers all still ride and watch the racing. It's nice to know my bike was bolted together with love  ;D


Group tour?

I stayed for a few nights in Lake Garda and Bologna. IMO northern Italy was so much nicer than the south. Its  lots quieter and the typical italian hustle and bustle is a little calmer. The streets are so much more drivable.
Bologna is a university town and the hospitality there is really good as they get all us westerners coming through for the car/bike museums. The streets are characterised with lots and lots of arches and the two tourist attractions of that town are the leaning towers (similar engineering blunder like pisa) and the neptune fountain. You can tell that you are in the heart of the Ducati/Ferrari territory as most of the stores will have some sort of merchandise to flog off to you.
I did not go the Duc factory as it was closed at the time, however I went to the ferrari museum for a drool. Wife and I did a ride around Lake Garda - great for 5 hours of slow scenic views and lots of cafe stops with a pillion but no good if you want a fast twisty ride.
If you feel like a real cheap and sweet dessert - Nutelleria is in the heart of Bologna to fullfill all your hazelnut fantasies - Yummo.

sorry for rambling - northern Italy was amazing

there's a road between bologna and florence called the futa pass, hire a bike and ride it, it will be the best money and time you have EVER spent!

Bad news Six95, the Nutelleria closed down  :'(
However along the same street (via delle Moline) there is a place called Bombocrepe, and they have the best Nutella crepes (and other specialities).

A visit to the Ducati Factory is a must for any Ducati owner, just remember though that next year there should be World Ducati Week... last years event was fantastic and hoepfully they confirm the details soon.
