Bakersfield has a local squidly group of riders that have their own website.

I've only posted up a few things in the past, in a tread related to a local rider being killed by a drunk driver ( as bp) I expressed my condolences to the loss of their friend, and offered up a lil advice (that they remove any pics or videos of the downed rider, so as not to allow the drunks lawyer use it to paint the victim as the cause). I was instantly shot down and quit posting.
Then, a few months later, I logged on as somebody named "pissed" and ranted about the increase of LEO patrols, and how it connected to their group taunting the police and CHP. A few posts in... I quit. It was like arguing with drunks.
Well, somebody on the site has decided I need an asswhoop'n. That person (I assume a mod or admin) took my account info, added to it (a picture of a 1098, added my age) and began picking fights with everybody. I assume they traced my works ip address and did a lil digging.
I'm not scared, but I'm now a lil concerned about where this might end up, a kicked over bike, more digging and my home address found, the other guys in town with 1098s being targeted for retaliation.
Any advice out there as to what I can or should do?
I tried to log on, and deleted posts and or the account, but the password has been changed.
Based on what I've read..... it's somebody who knows most of the guys he's/she's taunting, (other riders person names are mentioned and there was thumbs up shout -out to an "eastside" club.
Most of the taunting has just recently happened, and I havented been on the 1098 since the middle of summer. I haven't had any bike or personal related drama with anybody, so I'm not quite sure why this started up
-Be prepared. even if you say you arent afraid, you have to be on your toes. Remember the dude who shoved craped into one of the forums members truck and kicked the bike over? people will do anything.
-They can indeed get that type of info from you. Remember the guy who went around selling those mercedes benz rims to 3 people at once? His info was found out by the forum and they litterally had pictures of him, his my space, his address and social, etc , people went by his house, of course these were sane people and handed the information over to the police.
On that note, it may be just the way I am, or the place I live, id just keep an open eye for a little while and keep monitoring the thread.
Now a picture of your 1098...does it have any information on that makes it uniquely yours?
The IP address at your work... is it a static IP or Dynamic IP? Whos name is on the bill for that line.
Ive had some dude msg me on Myspace cause some dude went around saying i said something, and surely enough he showed at school and went after me
Edit: I went on that site, it doenst look like they know anything about you. Just the city you are in, and a generic 1098. I wouldnt sweat this.
na.... it's just a stock 1098 pic, but they obviously know I have a 1098 and somehow, they figured out my age and added it to the profile. I'm not sure how the work ip looks.
i wouldnt worry about it then. I thought they had actually found out some significant info about you. I cant inmagine how they got your info other than IP address. Ever logged on from home?

I dont remember.
What a shitty site.
Isn't it amazing that some people can act like they're 12 year punks all their lives?
Sorry to hear you tried to do a goods deed and got a hard time for it. Seems like a group that big might have at least one member with a maturity level of...maybe 15 that you might be able to talk with at some sort of sensible level. Or not, considering the web site, dunno, just thinking maybe you could at least get a truce going.
I'm not exactly sure how it works in the States, but I'ld file a case with the police or something. I think this either falls in the category of braking and entering or Identity theft. 9 out of 10 nothing bad will happen, but at least you can try to avoid it.
You could start with a complaint with the sys admins. You cannot be sure it's them that have taken over your account, it just might be someone who 'brute forced' your password.
be careful BP... watch your back :-\
The only thing they could have got from your IP Address is your service provider, or if your company is large enough to have registered address space, I guess they could have got that.
When you registered, what did you use for an E-mail account? I have several 'fake' E-mails that I use for registering for forums I could give a shit about. Any chance you used one that tipped them off to owning a Ducati and they made the guess that it was a 1098?
I'd be more worried that someone on there holds a real grudge and makes the connection that the two accounts are from the same user, googles 'BP" to come across all your posts here, cross references this thread and gets even more info.
Now that I went to read the thread, it's funny that so many people on there seem to think they can get anywhere with an IP Address. I work in the industry and it would take some major league illegal, insider searching to get anything.
