I could have sworn I read a post on this before but after searching and getting zippy I need to ask...
How do you get the stickers off the frame?
I think that post I read a long while back said all you need is a hair dryer some floss and some patients. Is this right?
Let me know if you have done this. Thanks
Hair dryer to start.... then careful with your choice of gunk remover to get the rest off.
I'm pretty sure you can get in trouble if you take those stickers off.

If it was that important it would be riveted. You may have some trouble registering for the first time in places like California without them. Go slow and get them off in one piece. Then you can stick them on a piece of paper or something. If you ever need to re-attach them, just stick them on with rubber cement.

The only sticker you need on the bike in California when you register it is found under the seat. NONE of the other stickers are necessary and I wonder why Ducati puts them in such obvious places on the frame. I removed about a dozen stickers from my Monster when I had it. I saved them all in the owner's manual, next to the drawing showing the sticker locations. If you paint the frame, you have to take them all off, right?
And I found that fingernails and patience were good enough to get any of the stickers off.

another GooGone user here... no issues
If the stickers are removed, it isn't a big deal unless you try to sell your bike out of state. (I don't know about states that have regular inspections.) When I sold a bike to my son-in-law in Oregon, all the DMV cared about was the frame stickers. I had mine attached so there was no problem. If I had removed them there would have been a lengthy wait of getting it registered to my son-in-law. I don't understand why the stickers can't be placed under side panels. They are an eye-sore.
out of curiosity, what happens if you want to paint the frame?
This sounds like one of those discussions on "Do not remove this tag" warnings on matress labels . ;D Seriously its only put on their to make it convienient to read the VIN number. Fact is; the VIN number is permanatly stamped on the headtube. I used a little care and removed most of it in one piece and stuck under the seat to male it easier to collect during service. That said California has some really wacky "Big Brother" laws so who knows? Would'nt want to get caught by the "sticker police" [laugh]

California only looks for the one Emission sticker that is found under the seat. They don't care about any of the other stickers. And they only care about the one under the seat if you bring the bike in from out of state. Once it's here they don't care about any stickers at all on the bike, other than the ones on the license plate.
GOOGONE!!!
60 grit sandpaper or an angle grinder.
thanks for the responses everybody [thumbsup]
I think ill use the angel grinder method.
peel slowly and they come off in one piece. I re-stuck mine to under the seat just in case.
WD40 will take off any residual goo also (it's a solvent, regardless of what your Dad told you (the general you, not the OP you)).

not an issue. all oregon wants to do is to verify the VIN, which is stamped into the frame. [thumbsup]
i took them off today.. in one hundred little pieces. [bang] ha
I have no idea how any of you got them off in one piece but mine are torn to shreds on the floor of the garage so I hope VA does not require them for inspection. Armed with a hair dryer, I really took my time and tried to pull them off in one go but it would have taken forever. I simply dont have those kind of patients.

I have two bikes from out of state that were registered and inspected in VA, no problems, not even mentioned.

The least I expect from my medical practitioner is that the patient is maintained in one piece..... [laugh]
