Winter is closing in and my bike will be in storage, so I just wanted to get a few more things done. The clutch cover is so large and visible. I wanted to make it smaller to the eye, so I thought some black would make it "sink in". Not entirely sure this was a success, but, well - it's not reversible. I had similar issues with the front fender, bringing too much visual attention to itself, it made the bike look front/low-heavy. Two component urethane paint, flat black. (i loved the tail paint also)
wet clutch, eh? i am not sure about that paint job (not the quality, the whole look after it)... i bet you were torn between red and black for a while. did you think about red paint + white ducati letters? maybe that's too tacky... i might steal your ideas about the tail and front fender though... [thumbsup] Go ahead, that's how it works - to me "stealing" ideas are compliments. Red/white was not on the table, I think it would probably be the opposite of what I wanted(?) It does actually look better than on the pictures, but it's not the ideal solution. MotoCreations window'ed cover would have been perfect, but that project was stopped because it was too expensive. I have thought about grey/black/smoke vinyl, but it MUST be absolutely hell to apply and wouldn't last? Do you have a link to a post about it? During the winter I hope to rebuild the suspension. My guru is working with WP Suspension (and Öhlins) - they have some rather large CF sticker to cover some of the fork legs, which will provide some of the same effect (toning down the shiny fork legs). As for the wet clutch cover... theres only so much you can do with it :-\ It looks much better than stock and actually pretty good for a wet cover. Perhaps the lettering in it could be painted the same red? If your trying to hide it that might help tie it in making less obvious than the all black inside.
