I have a 2001 900sie with stock bars and clamps. I want to get some new bars and clamps but dont want to do clipons. What are my options? I like the Rizoma but besides the Suburban machinery and those I know of no other bars. Will motox bars work? anyone tried them>?

If you are looking for a more comfortable riding position try rizoma bars as i have found them to be a very good alternative to the standard bars. I have a back problem and the rizoma bars sorted the seating position out for me so i hope this helps.

anything that says 7/8" bar fitment will work. whether or not brake/clutch lines, etc. will play nicely is something else.

I've seen moto bars used on monsters, but it depends on what you're going for. more flat and upright? or more low and sporty?


I think drag bars and custom risers would look the shizzy.

but I'm a freak like that.

great craftsmanship, nice sporty look, not as low as clipons, HOLES FOR CONTROLS ARE PREDRILLED, perfect fit, and not too pricey at all.

Have them on my S2R, and i couldnt be happier. Stock brake lines and everything. Perfect fit.

I have suburban bars... non S*R.

had to re-drill mine because they weren't placed where I wanted. otherwise, I freakin' love them.

Does anyone know the sweep angle of the stock bars?
SM are 24 degrees, so it seems.
Their site claim a rise of 1.25 inches, but it doesn't look that way on their photos (measured/viewed from center to end of bars)

don't know the numbers, but it feels less than the SM bars, but not quite moto-x flat...

the nice thing about the suburban bars is that (if you grind the nubbins off of your controls so you can locate them as you please) you can rotate them upward or downward a bit, or even install them upside down (yes, there is a L and R side marked when you get them) and totally change your riding position, without losing clearance on your tank. These bars are awesome.

SM answered me today about the sweep angles. They say S*R bars are 18 degrees vs theirs 24 degrees. Also, they will be changing their notation of a 1.25' rise, it's 3/8' as seen on the pictures.

Would you SM lovers say that the modest 6 degrees difference is THAT noticeable? I would hope so, but really....?

yes agree i don't no the deg difference but i tell you its an amazing feel....i did 5+ hrs in the summer without any pain
