Title: Opinion on a Trek Fuel 9.5 Mountain bike? ('08)
Post by: Rideon on December 01, 2008, 09:48:28 AM
I know some of you are mountainbikers. Does anyone have an opinion on this model?
It would be for XC, some downhill, mild air.

Thanks in advance!

I took one for a quick spin...from what I could tell on my limited test ride was it felt good!.  +1 on a "All Mt Bike."

Is the 9.5 carbon?  I don't remember if they even made the fuel in CF (it's been a few years).  I had an old 9900 Pro Issue hard tail that I took off some 2-3 foot stair drops, but I wouldn't trust an "all mountain" frame in CF unless they really beefed it up.  That being said, if it's alum. I say go for it.  If you're leaning more towards the freeride/DH side of things I'd look at the Trek Liquid as well.  Either way you go though, I'd say it should be a winner.  Check out MTBReview.com for reviews.

Great bike. I would also try to ride the Trek's cousin the Gary Fisher HiFi Pro to see what you think. It is a great bike with the G2 geometry which seems more stable to me. Either way they are great bikes.
