Title: Too damn chilly!!! Post by: gh0stie on December 02, 2008, 02:16:18 PM ugh!
yeah I know it's not freezing and we should be grateful we ain't got snow, but the temps are just hovering around that point where 5-10 degrees either way can have a big impact on how "comfortable" your ride is. I forced myself to ride yesterday, but inspite of all my layers I was still damn chilly and damn near got blowed off my bike! (even during lunch, which is usually pretty warm) just couldn't bring myself to do it this morning. whats ticking me off is it looks deceptively cheery outside......only to hop on the bike and be blasted by a nice icy chill! okay, done venting now..................so who else is tougher than me and rode the last 2 days? I rode this morning. I am not sure what the temp was, but It was cold. I had spidi gloves with inserts, but my hands were still cold. I am really amazed how warm the thin Frogg Togg Pants I use to keep wet weather off of me perform when I use them to keep the cold wind off. They work well. Wasabi Title: Re: Too damn chilly!!! Post by: ivobivo on December 02, 2008, 03:55:27 PM Here's how I rode last year in 29oF: Under Armor Cold Gear, t-shirt, sweater, leather jacket (not perforated), thermal under-ware, Turtlefur balaclava, Rev'it winter gloves with some kind of fancy lining and Sidi touring boots. I felt pretty comfortable even warm at times.

I have a Teknic jacket that is a blast furnace to keep the core warm, wear long undies under the jeans and suffer through not having cold weather gloves for now. What kind of gear are you running? Title: Re: Too damn chilly!!! Post by: Pedro-bot on December 02, 2008, 05:26:11 PM I put in about 150 miles these past two days. Only problem I had Monday was the wind. It was a bit too windy, I kept getting knocked around. Although it was kinda exciting doing 80+mph and feeling like your sliding around. [evil]
Weather wasn't too bad in Houston, 50's yesterday and 60's today. Layers are your friend. [coffee] |
