Title: Riding Two-up on the 620
Post by: gh0stie on December 08, 2008, 10:10:49 AM
So I took the g/f out on our first ride yesterday, and while she absolutely loved the ride, she felt a bit cramped up in the legs after a couple of hours.

I'm looking for feedback from other owners on this issue, she's 5'8 with really long legs and I'm wondering if maybe getting a higher seat might improve this............or is this just one of those things that get less painful over time?

or should I just get a bigger bike!!?/

Thanks

Bigger bike!   ;D

D and I used to ride 2 up on my 620 once in a while, for short trips around town and 70 mile or shorter rides it was fine.  Anything longer though was a pain.

She's 5 10 and Im 5 11

How aggressive is your front end (stock bars or clip ons?)

Yep, I think most of us would agree it's not an ideal bike for longer two-up rides.

Taking more frequent breaks may help.

My fiancée and I ride 2up on my M750 a lot.  Long rides with no breaks are not wise.  It's not well suited for 2up riding, but works if you take frequent breaks ~

GF rides a lot w/ me and doesn't have many issues w/ longer rides.  She's only 5'4" though and she takes her legs off the pegs and stretches them when we hit red lights or stop signs.

I think we'll need pics of your long-legged girlfriend in order to provide the most helpful information... just sayin'  ;)

My wife is 5' even and longer rides wear her down on the 620 as well....it's just the seating position.  Give her the 620 and get yourself something bigger.

Multistrada, if you want to do 2-up riding.  Probably the most comfy seat for the passenger.  Especially with a trunk which becomes a back rest.   :)

Thanks all!

I guess we will "rough it" for a while longer to make sure she really wants to ride with me, then I will start looking at other bikes........

Jester, my bars are pretty much stock

FactorPlayer, I would post some but I'm afraid she might kick my ass (see long legs)

Could be worse, you could be seen sitting on, or in the vicinity of a 696.  [puke]

696 is more confortable with the touring seat for 2-up riding. pegs are lower even for the passenger. AND handles better.
