well, honda already quit, but i don't see how they expect ferrari, toyota, renault, and mercedes to stick around...

is it the end? no, but it definitely won't be the formula 1 of old. the true constructors will be gone.

I can see Audi's viewpoint, they've kicked ass for years, so now with the economy tight, what's the point?

It's also an issue with money in F1, but it's motivated by Max and Bernie's greed, not 'for the good of the sport'.
IMO. YMMV.

At last I don`t have to look like I am interested in F1 anymore >:(

They have made the decision for me.

Thanx Max [bang]

That's awesome, a spectacularly bad decision to cap a string of spectacularly bad decisions.  :'(

I may as well go back to watching Formula Ford.

I have not paid much attention at all to F1 in the last five years or so but this is the final straw. Let's just hope that the factory run teams just walk away. They will be only one step away from A1GP with this (latest) idiotic idea so why bother? Sadly, I don't think they will - they'll follow blindly. Next up, MotoGP.

They need to abandon KERS. At least for now. Lock the specs for 2009 through 2011 and let the teams ride out a couple of seasons without having to make an all new car because of new technical regulations.

I don't mind Cosworth making an engine for teams to buy if they would like, but I think it's wrong to force the other teams to capitulate and use it or make their own version. To do that and not allow customer cars in F1 is a sham.

Maybe if there were more teams like Williams, Force India, or Red Bull who weren't manufacturer supported, I'd be more amendable to the idea, but as it stands, it'll spell the death of F1 as it currently exists. To expect Ferrari, Mercedes, Toyota, and BMW to abandon their own efforts is ludicrous.

Sad. In spite of recent changes, I still really enjoyed F1, but this is the final straw for me. Might as well be watching Champ cars - oh, wait, that circuit FAILED! What's next, damn oval tracks?

In some ways, but not really to my taste.

Speeddog you are so right.
I have spectated at F1 GPs since the early 1960's and some of the best racing was in the era when independent teams used cosworth engines and hewland gearbox's. Two of those teams had mad Max (march) and greedy Bernie (brabham) on their management teams at the time and it was definitely a sport to be watched but now it's a circus with the two greedy clowns runnng the show  :'( :'(
