Title: So I guess because the bike is up on stands for the winter
Post by: eesnas on December 08, 2008, 06:47:53 PM
I went out and bought a 350z... let's hope we don't get too much snow  ;D

2 seats, 6 speed, 287hp, no traction control- I'm so practical it's scary [/sarcasm], can't wait to get it this week!   8)

Congrats!  Post up some pics when you get it.

If you get snow just throw on some snow tires...michelin pilot alpines work great!

Yeah, I might do the snow tires, still not sure. My girl drives a jeep and I have a 10 minute commute, if it really is snowing out I can always have her drop me at the office. I am pretty damn excited though, thanks!

Be sure to check the oil RELIGIOUSLY!!! These cars have a problem with valve stem seals leaking, and the manuals are so much worse than the automatics. Closing the throttle between shifts creates a high vacuum in the intake and pulls more oil through the seals. I know of 4 MT Z's with blown motors at less than 30k miles with regular maintenance performed.

Other than that, cool car, and enjoy.

They should hire you to sell warranties at the dealership!  [laugh]

Yeah, now I am scared... none-the-less thanks for the heads up. I have a year on the powertrain warranty and the dealer offered to sell a 5 year/75k one but I always feel like everything that breaks when I have a warranty always "falls out of bounds" and I end up paying. I will keep an eye on the oil though, thanks.

I had an G35 6mt with 19" summer tires, it was downright dangerous in the winter. I advise snow tires otherwise even a sprinkling of snow will have you all over the road and I am not exaggerating. The tires get hard as rocks in the cold and have negative traction if there is even a whiff of snow. But god damn that was a fun car, third gear at 4,500 rpm is just a straight kick in the balls.
Make sure to drive with the windows down and the radio off, drop a gear in a tunnel and ahhhhhhhhhhhh

+1 on the new Z!  But can't you hold out a little longer for the Z370?  Lighter, more power, attrative exterior with much better interior.

I don't have the coin required for a new car... Well, maybe I could swing it but I'd literally be eating Ramen. To be honest, I think the front end is too busy on the new 370, I like the simplicity of the 350, both are cool either way but if I could I'd get the GT-R over either Z.

Road and Track basically said the car was a piece of crap  !

Brakes and Tranny troubles , windows didn't work right, plastic interior . all around disappointment.   Dolph

Maybe I am reading a different Road and Track magazine.  But the version I read had a slightly different tone:

Full Test: 2009 Nissan 370Z
Now smaller, lighter and more powerful, Nissan's 330-bhp rear-drive sports car is pure high-performance muscle.

I must say after 2 days with this car I really love it, good to have finally stepped into something different after 8 years of the same car. Don't get me wrong, the 3 series was great but it just got old and stale, this seems so fresh and different, reminds me of my old VR4 Mitsu, I'm very happy with it.

What's great about the new Z, is that it looks so much more like the original Z cars. I'm glad they are getting back to the roots.

I love my 04 G35 MT, like the Z it will be a classic! [thumbsup] Just moved to Boston, and will be hibernating the rides until spring. had several close calls in Houston, don't even want to chance it in the snow, hills, and ice! So I get to drive a Geo Prism and mass transit for the Winter.

Should be a fun car. I had a 2005 Infiniti G35 6MT for a while. I special ordered it from the factory with the options I wanted. It was nice until it hit 13k miles. Then, it started consuming lots o' oil. Nissan said they were aware of the problem and were replacing engines under warranty. Said they were working on a fix, but weren't sure how long it would take. I sold it and picked up a 2005 Crossfire SRT6 which is one of 2016 ever produced. Flat out blows the doors off of nearly anything on the street under $100K! It's all AMG 32 Mercedes complete with the tri-star emblems on everything under th hood which is good since I can get parts at Mercedes dealerships if Chrysler goes out of business! [laugh] 0-60 in 4.7, 1/4 mile in high 12s, factory supercharged, and definitely not a winter car! [cheeky] That's what the daily driver is for (used to be my 200 F150, but now is the Metro rail system)!
