So I haven't spent any time over on TOB since I left and joined here except to list my bike for sale. On the 5th I received a pm from a member over there so I signed in to read it and just for laughs I thought I would check out the accessories and mods section just to see how things were going over there.
I came a cross a thread from a newbie rider so I posted up my .02 cents. I just received a response from the pm I returned so I thought I would check out the responses to my post and there were NONE! ZERO! ZIP! NADA!
ROFLMAO!!!! That was 5 days ago. I was the last peoson to post in that thread, how can it still be in the top five in that section? What a joke! [laugh]
Nothing but the sound of crickets in the middle of the night last time I stopped in... [roll]
I dropped in the other day as well, The place is a ghost town, in most areas the top topics are months old and the new ones are mainly filled with poor responses and suggestions.
The DML is dead
I'd really like to see a line graph or something that shows the posts per day over time on that board... something like from April to Nov of '08

Just write to VS, tell them you're looking to advertise Ducati parts, and to please send them that info in regards to the DML. :)

It would look like a rock falling of a cliff....or the sky falling.
I have never been able to access that board. My connection always times out. I have never even seen the front page. I am a fortunate person [thumbsup]

Nothing so bad about it - just peeps like us. I hate that we were sold out. I guess we all have our price. Wonder how much we were worth? Anybody know?

I heard it was 2 cases of beer and some bacon.
Last time I tried to log on I was banned , banned for life I think.
I had to dodge the tumble weed and the dust. RIP Dolph
VS sure got their money's worth out of that "investment". Guess they didn't realize the trump card was up the old mods' sleeves. And thank FSM for that!
It probably was a good investment if you compare it to shares of Citi / Ford / GM / Fannie / etc.

All of you guys going over there to check out the cobwebs are going to quadruple their hit count lol [wine]

Don't be so generous...
I wonder if the dude who brought up buying our old damn board still has a job?
I mean on the other hand, if you even had a small god damn brain you could've kept that old board working and made sure everyone was still happy. Its lame the old board was sold, but money can do shitty things to people.
Problem with VS is that they only want one server software to have to worry about. It just so happens that the software they use is more conducive to advertising. That's how they make their money. Had they left the site the way it was, they wouldn't have turned a profit from what (I assume) they paid for the site...

Much as I'd like to take part of the credit for that, all we did was realise that you guys ("the community" in web marketroid speak) wanted somewhere just like TOB before the new owners made their advised-against changes, and a few of us knew exactly how to provide that, so we did. Congrats to the 3621(as I type this) members who've made our piece of webspace and free software into a vibrant and happening thing...

I was slightly annoyed to find that I was banned until "never" as well. Of course, my last dozen posts were asking for it. [evil] But I eventually figured out that all I had to do was delete the cookies for that site from my web browser and I could be a visitor once again. Although the only time it is worth visiting is to find old threads for reference.
I looked at the two FAQ pages that I wrote and noticed that they removed all of the photos from them. The tail chop FAQ page was a picture tutorial. I doubt that anybody noticed that the text makes no sense without the pictures.

Someone would have to be there to notice. :-\

When they converted from the database/code that ran ToB as we knew it, to that crap you seen now - it killed all the image attachments and from what I noticed pretty much all the pathing to external images - basically decimating years of valuable reference and other foolishness.
When the final switch was made, I sent a request for a new screen name and never got a reply. So, I never logged on again.

im sure they figured all the dedicated folks would jump at the chance to re create all that hard work, for free....
so that VS could remain profitable.
I was farting around on svrider and saw that they had been taken over as well.
Look, this nonsense isn't going to stop.
I say we do a hostile takeover.
