Just had the glorious Termi full system put on my S2R1K and evidently the ECU just took a dump. Anyone else have this problem? Bummed because the bike runs SOOOOOOOO much better with the exhaust in place. The shop said it was going to put the stock ECU back in and I was wondering what is going to happen. Run like dookie? Run Great? I'm so confused.
It certainly won't run as well without it if you keep the Termi installed.
Have you or your dealer contacted DNA? If the part truly failed due to installation or a defective unit, they should replace it. How long was it installed before it crapped out on you?
The system was on the bike for about a week. The dealer is supposed to be un "f"ing it, but in the mean time they were going to put in the stock one. Just really bummed as the bike ran soo good :'(
Glad to hear they are taking care of you. Sorry that you have to ride something less good until they do.
Keep us posted.
Will do. ;D
My original ECU "took a dump" and was replaced under warranty (I actually bought the full race ECU instead anyway), the people who originally installed it didn't ground the ECU correctly and need to be shot. Sometimes it really is as simple as "some retard put the wires in the wrong place".
I truly hope that is not the case here. They seem to have their "s" together in all other aspect's. But then again it does happen and nobody is perfect...except me of course ;D
Infant mortality in electronic devices is common.
I don't recall hearing of DP ECUs being any more prone to dying than the OEM parts.
My OEM ECU packed it in a couple years ago, FWIW.

With the ROHS mandates (un-leaded solder and pure tin component leads) we're going to be seeing more and more of these problems. Tin whiskers are causing short circuits to form between component leads. This is becoming a huge problem for those of us that produce high-rel electronics.

DO NOT run the bike on the stock ECU. It flows too well now and you will be hella "lean" and could def hurt things. Not to mention the light will be on the whole time for the missing O2 sensor and may even throw the system into "limp" mode when it does not receive any "change" from the O2... I guess you could have them put the stock airbox lid & filter back in to help restrict it. But I would let em keep it until they get you a new one!
DIT: Oh yeah, my DP ECU has been reliable so far (16 months and counting...) (knock on
wood head)
So far, so good. 7650 miles on my DP ECU.
New ECU came in today. Will update when I get Sophia back.
