just fyi, btw...the rear wheel currently on right now is a 6" marchesini (though stamped brembo) and 17mm axle.  front is 3.5" wide and 20mm axle iirc.

so what happened?

From what I heard, the aluminum has gone soft.
The cush-drive bushings have fallen out of the rim and the holes the wheel bearings fit into
on the rim have wallowed out to the point where the bearings also fall out.
With the bearings not able to control the wheel -the tire rubs on the swingarm...
even with the axle torqued right.

I would bet the powdercoater make the beast with two backsed up the heat treat on the rim
and now it is as soft as cottage cheese.

My personal thought is to have a Brinell test done on the wheel
and take the powdercoat guy to small claims to pay for replacement...

Anyone considering having wheels powdercoated you need to be sure
they use a low temperature process and not "regular" powdercoat.

yeah talked to jason last night and it sounded very no bueno.  when i installed the new bearings they were snug as a bug...i had to put them in the freezer for a few, and use a rubber mallet on a large socket on the outer race of the bearings to get them in.  very sorry to hear that something like this happened man; let me know if i can help you out at all...you should have the receipt for the powdercoating...and it was done just earlier this year, so i would talk to them and see what they say.  they seem like a decent group, so hopefully they will fix this for you without any hassle, even if it's just compensating you for some OEM brembo takeoffs or something.  let me know what they say.

I'm going to tear down the bike to do the frame repair and will paint the wheels and frame at that time. I will try to post pics of the process.
