Title: Heat shields from M1100 Post by: duclvr on December 18, 2008, 03:59:31 AM Trying to make my M696 even darker. I noticed that the heat shields on the M1100 are all black.
Judging by the parts breakdown. it looks like the same part #s as the M696 with a "B" on the end instead of an "A". Anyone know how much a set of heatshields are? I know I could just paint them myself, but this way they have matching factory paint. Part #'s 12,13,33 and associated hardware. Just saying, man. ;) Also, check out Commonwealth Motorcycles in the sponsor section. You can order OEM parts from them. Put the part number in the order form, add to cart, and see how much they are. [laugh] Well considering my 696 is in the shop with a TBD oil leak. this is the best I can do. I will try that link thanks. Title: Re: Heat shields from M1100 Post by: R2 on December 18, 2008, 11:10:19 AM It cost me $90 to powder coat all 3 heat shields and the headlight frame black. Not quite as cheap as a rattle can though.
Title: Re: Heat shields from M1100 Post by: Buckethead on December 18, 2008, 11:21:17 AM No, not quite, but it'll probably last a lot longer and look better, too. [thumbsup]
I'd say ask around and see if anyone near you wants to go in on a powdercoating group-buy. Or at least pull the brake calipers off your car and get them done, too. Title: Re: Heat shields from M1100 Post by: Norm on December 21, 2008, 08:35:36 AM There is only one shade of black - for a small part like that I agree with the rattle can solution. I'm all for spending money on mods but wasting money is a different thing.
