Title: IT'S ALIVE!!! Post by: JDucati on December 19, 2008, 09:05:06 PM Well I have had my bike 3 weeks and it has been down for 2 weeks do to a fuel leak.
One morning I found a quarter sized spot of fuel on the ground under my bike. I thought it was some kind of crazy exhaust issue. Chased it up the pipe to a bit of the frame. Then up to an electrical connection that I later found out was the fuel level sensor. I decided to do the work by myself taking the seat and the tank off. I have to say the hardest thing to do on this bike was disconnecting the plug from the fuel filter inside the tank. My arms and hands are just too big. But sure enough I did disconnect it. Pulled out the fuel level sensor; damn I am glad I had the modern metal fitting on it. Could have cost me 180 bucks for a new unit. ;D Luckily. It was just a little green rubber gasket. I bought a new one and threw it all back together slowly but surely and thoroughly. with 2 turns of the key to prime the fuel system, it fired right up without a hick-up. I am truly impressed with the way Ducati makes their bikes. Thanks to the guys at Salem honda/ducati/bmw. I was able to fix this issue with little anguish. I have only had a total of about an hour of riding time on this bike and I am itching to take it out again. [moto] Title: Re: IT'S ALIVE!!!
