Title: Gogol Bordello
Post by: Slide Panda on December 21, 2008, 06:26:23 PM
I'm going to the 1/3 show at the 930 - anyone else here hitting that show?  If so perhaps a couple beers at Sollys beforehand or some grub...

so...how was it?
I have seen them 3 times now, and 2 of the three were fantastic(one was a good show just not the energy). the best show i have seen them play yet was at the Troc in Philly, Valiant Thor opened for them and since my friend was in town for the holidays, she happens to know the two ladies (Pam & Elizabeth..i think) that play the drums and crowd surf. So we drove up to Philly on a whim....this was a few years ago.
I bet the 930 show was badass

honestly i am not crazy about their music, but their show is great. And Valiant Thor are no slouches either.

It was a good show - I'm regretting passing up seeing them a few years ago.  Lots of energy, they hit the stage at full steam and kept it going the whole show.  I'd see them again for sure.

The 930 was a pretty good venue for it - got to say it was the hottest (temp wise) show I've been to there since they moved to V st.  Crowd... so so.  DC's gone soft so the crowds lean a little on the lame side as compared to the DC musical hayday... also seems folks have lost or have never learnt show survival skills

Me and the Wife were at the Friday night show.
It was awe inspiring, as usual.  After the holiday (ouch) and then a long day at work on friday, I was destroyed at the end of the night.
But what a great way to start a year.
