I read the book a few years ago, so naturally went to the movie today.
Very funny, Owen Wilson is great.
However, the ending was very sad. Why did they have to spend so much time with Marley dying?!?!
Anyone else go see it today?

i figured that's what the ending was going to be when one of the reviews was titled "they should have just called it 'new yeller'."

as far as nazi film, the new Craig flick Defiance looks really great.
We went and saw Bedtime Stories. Pretty damn funny and Teresa Palmer (google her) was freakin HOT in the movie....

My sister gave me that book 'cause, you know, I have a dog. Anyway, I didn't even make it 20 pages in, before tossing it in disgust. The guy who wrote that book should never be allowed to own dogs...ever. He is the kind of dog owner that makes me insane: clueless, no discipline, et cetera.
he's a suffer'n pa

everyone has to start somewhere with owning a dog.
You should have read a bit more.
Even though they might not have been the best "dog owners" they still learned a lot from that dog and the dog learned from them.
The dog was there for them when his wife had a miscarriage. The dog was there for the kids.
One thing that book shows is that dogs show you one thing:
unconditional love.
i read the book, i laughed and i cried... it was sad indeed, and i don't even own a dog.
