So, out of curiosity, how do giant ass snow chains equate to missing U-joint needle bearings? ???
Oh, and some nifty pics. Nice shutter work. [thumbsup]

I cut down some heavy truck chains
they are about 45lbs apiece
and
the throw on those things turned the already failing needle bearings to dust
Gotcha! [thumbsup]
Nice work, Jacob.
Although, you should have put Carbon Fiber U-Joints in. Everybody knows those are better. ;D
I always liked the Jeep front ends. Simple. None of those shitty auto/manual locking hubs to deal with like on all the Fords we had.
Had a '94 YJ for a while. Great fun - wish I still had it.
Hah, mad props on the makeshift vise-press. I've never even thought about doing that... usually just smack them out with a big chisel.
Super shiny swaybar disconnects. Is the front axle on a vacuum CAD system for 4wd? My Dodge has it, and I hate it. It's the sole reason those joints ever have to be replaced, basically. I'd like to get a conversion kit so the front tires can actually freewheel. My hub bearings cost about $450 each, so as soon as one fails, I'll have an excuse to swap the kit in with Warn manual hubs since the kit is around $900.
I'm surprised the puller was necessary. Is the outer axle tapered, or was it just rusted-the-F-on?
LOLERZ @ "clip in the diff". Please offer another boot to the nuts to aforementioned dumbass for me.
D30 ? front axle ?
Just wonderin' for reference :)

They went back in that way, vice was a PITA so I just used a hammer in the end
The jeeps are a solid unit, no unlocking hubs, the system unlocks at the T-case, so even in 2x4 the front axle and front drivline are spinning
and yeah, don't those nonservicable units suck?
That damn thing is 300 bucks

as to the puller, we use that glycol crap up here as a de-icer
ODOT claims it isn't corrosive...
bullshit [roll] those rotors are only a couple of years old
