This is probably old news/idea but I just saw a video on youtube about some town in Belgium having set the record for the amount of Monsters in one place at the same time. The new record (at the time of the video)is 405. Now I know the US of A is just a little bit bigger but I think it may be time for a ginormous event here. Any thoughts. Am I just dreaming? ???
There were a couple of threads here about trying to break the record.
Not sure if they went anywhere besides idle chatter.
Welp I am just bored enough... ;D

I believe the problem was location
The right coasters wanted it there...
and the left coasters wanted it there...
I suggested [http://www.geocities.com/mapguygk07/HiPlains/GeoCenter/hiplains_geocenter.htm]here[/url] ;D
You set it up, I'll be there. I have no problem trying to plan such a thing, but I'd really botch it up.
AFAIK... Luca is still putting this together.

Which is why it should be in the middle. ;)
I like the idea of doing it at Barber Motorsports Park outside of Birmingham Alabama because George Barber would love to host an event like this and would probably have us do ceremonial laps around the track in succession for to celebrate the event....and that is just my initial gut reactive feeling on this....
be nice to get a regional breakdown from Ducati NA of Monster sales over the last 5 years to see where the majority of these bikes are initially sold despite where they end up long haul wise...

I could check on that. Plus, everyone needs to see that Museum.

Just one lap?
We should get a whole day for the press the track would get. :P

We should do it in Indianapolis next
September August. (Oops, I just checked the schedule.)

Laguna Seca!
How about January 31st, 2008 Noon at the top of Palomar Mountain in San Diego? I figure, keep posting dates, count who shows up, post pics of those who do show up, count, and keep posting dates until we pack the mountain and voila!

Does anyone know how many monsters have been assembled in one place in the USA? (Dealer showrooms not included).
This from a Monster only trackday in the UK

Not just record for Monsters:
QuoteDucati North Europe is proud to inform you that on Sunday September 21, the legendary Ducati Monster broke the record for the 'Largest Parade of Motorcycles of the Same Brand and Type' in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Laguna Seca!
attendance was higher at Indy than at Laguna...so the likelyhood of this being a successful venture would be moreso there!

ceremonial LAPS then...because there has to be some milage of the bikes ridden...so a couple few laps each could accomplish this....

please check on that...and yes..that museum is a must see...some amazing stuff in there indeed...and some of it rotates...so you may see some new things every now and again...supposedly the museum is being expanded to alleviate that?!?!?!
mmm...barber. I would LOVE to ride that track and see the museum again. [thumbsup]
Museum ehh? I'll be at the AMA race in Birmingham in April and wasn't aware of this added bonus ;D. Central coast location (what?) would be great, that way the left and right coasters could leave just a touch early and pick up the middle coasters along the way. Monster caravan!

That one place is the U.S. of A. We should just have meet-ups in our respective areas at the same time (taking time zones in to account), and call it a day. :P
Do YOU guys REALLY think WE can get THIS group TOGETHER in a country this BIG. [bang] [cheeky] [laugh]

Well, if the place is the entire country, doesn't that mean that the meet-up's going on right now with our bikes parked in our garages?
I think it'd have to be a little more specific geographically in order to qualify.

I talked with the guys from Ducati MOB (not SF MOB, but rather Monsters of Belgium) about their event. In order to qualify, all the bikes had to be in one location for a certain period of time. They did it in a town square. People came from all over Europe. Once in the square and "counted", the bikes had to ride like 2 or 3 km, just to ensure they were running. That's how they qualify for the Guiness count. They actually had more monsters there than were counted, but a bunch arrived late to the "count."

I'd shoot for '09....
but that's just me. ;D
what about the center coast... of beautiful lake michigan! :D
what's funny is that at any of the Harley anniversary parties in milwaukee could have organized a group of whatever popular harley model and absolutely smashed the 400+ count. in fact i have a friend who works in marketing at harley, i should mention this for the 110th lol
I like the idea of Barber Motor Sports in May.
That way it should be warm enough for the folks in the Northern states to be warm (like say Memorial Day ) enough to ride and as they ride south it would be getting warmer as they went.
I've seen pictures of the Museum and it had at the time over 1000 bikes and race cars displayed. What a treat.
If we could pull it off and ride around the track that would be the berries .
It's 1200 miles round trip for me and that's a long way for an old man.
Another way that might have a chance would be like " Live Aid ."
Have bikes meet in 4 different places around the country and get TV to cover it at the same time sort of like the way New Years is celebrated in each time zone on TV.
If we could get 4 local TV stations to cover us live maybe it would have to be on the 5pm news in each time zone, that might count. Dolph
