If I just needed a stand while i'm working on something -- good deal. If you plan on leaving it in the air, unattended -- ehhh, not so good of a deal. The real proof would be in person though - HF's pictures always look better than the item in real life.

Title: Re: $39 rear stand from Harbor Freight Post by: Spidey on December 30, 2008, 03:36:08 PM I have a couple of pit bulls too, but I've also used a bunch of other rearstands over time. I've never quite understood what makes a good stand versus a bad stand. What's wrong with that one (other than the slight lip on rubber part the swingarm sits on -- which may not work if your swingarm is too wide). I've only found a big difference in under-the-fork front stands, but not with rearstands.
Title: Re: $39 rear stand from Harbor Freight Post by: wbeck257 on December 30, 2008, 03:50:15 PM Compare its dimensions w/ a pitbull.
They don't have a big of a footprint on the ground and aren't as stable. Title: Re: $39 rear stand from Harbor Freight Post by: hypurone on December 31, 2008, 09:22:40 AM It will most likely be just fine. I had doubts about the front wheel chock they were selling but went and had a look at one. It was beefy and well made. I have since been to SoCal from NorCal twice and trailered to a track day etc with the chock and it has been rock-solid. And I mean ROCK solid, no movement or loosening up of any kind. It even handled my 600lb Mean Streak w/o issue over some of the nastiest freeway I have ever been on...
Go have a look at it, you might just be surprised... |
