Title: Last Ride Of The Year
Post by: nateqwik on December 31, 2008, 01:42:18 PM
Well folks, the year is almost over! Did you get one last ride before 2008 was over? Or do you plan on going riding later today? In my case... Yesterday was sunny and clear, 70 degrees without a cloud in the sky. Took a ride on NC Hwy. 80 from my hometown up to the BRP. (Blue ridge parkway.) Hit some really good curves going up and coming back down.  Only one other bike on that particular stretch of road (some punk on a yellow GSXR, thought the road was his own personal track,)  [bang]. Anyway, spent a few hours just riding and feeling good. [moto] Today on the other hand.... High of 44 with winds gusting up to 40 MPH. Glad I got to ride yesterday... So, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Actually got the Monster out on December 29th for a couple of hours, which is kind of a rarity in Northwest Ohio. I missed out on the 65 degree day on the 28th because of extended family holiday crap. The high was about 45 on the 29th, but the sun was out and the roads were dry, so giddy-up. Most people looked altogether confused when they saw me pull up next to them at lights, etc, like a motorcycle on the road in December is a sign of the approaching apocalypse, or something. One guy with an H-D sticker in his back window said "Aw make the beast with two backs" when I pulled up next to him (Not an expert lip reader, but that one's pretty clear) Then he turned and yelled at the lady riding shotgun (his wife, probably), I assume either because she made him put his bike away or because he was bitter, lamenting several of his life's choices that brought him to that moment, in a truck on a nice day, with her as his companion, and an H-D, probably an off-the-rack Sportster in his garage. I would have yelled, too, I guess.

It's amazing how good life is when there's a clear sky above you and a Duc under you.

Cheers, and Happy New Year

DB

Happy new year to you as well.  I will be riding tomorrow with a group of friends so no  [drink] tonight.  It's really tough here in AZ, what with it being the 70's and all ;D  Sorry had to do it.

But seriously watch out for the cages and have a good time whenever you ride this upcoming year.

It was 65 Sunny and clear today, so I broke out the S2R and put a hard 150 miles on it. What a great ride, all I needed to make it complete was some company, but hey a solo ride is good enough for me under the circumstances.

Happy New Year everybody, and good riddance to 2008.

Took a blast up Hwy 28 to Highlands, NC.  One of the best roads on the planet. [thumbsup] [moto]  Golden sun and blue sky.  Gotta love the Southern Appalachians.  [thumbsup]

Been out every day lately.

Winter's coming though. [coffee]

Well, my last ride of this year and my first ride for next year are both commutes to and from work.  Nothing like working 7p to 7a on New Year's Eve.  My job sucks!

It was nice and sunny on Tuesday with the temp in the mid 50s so I skipped out of work around 10 AM and took a ride from Yorktown VA up to the Northern Neck on Hwy 3.  Had lunch in Kilmarnock, then continued to George Washington's birthplace memorial.  A nice 250-mile ride, but it had turned pretty cold by the time I got home.

My last ride of 2008 was coming home from work yesterday.  I have yet to take her out this year yet.  Sorry I missed out on this one Greg.  I will be free on Saturday for sure and would definetly be up for a ride.  The bikes a bit louder now, took 7 inches off the pipes to remove a crack.
