Title: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: Danmack_98 on January 02, 2009, 06:11:53 PM I think these are kinda cool, but only work in a showroom. You get 'em dirty and you lose the affect. Looks real clean though! (and DOT approved) http://www.cycleworld.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=557
Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: Chchadder on January 02, 2009, 07:07:58 PM And I thought my white wheels were a PITA to keep clean!!

Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: Danmack_98 on January 02, 2009, 07:33:12 PM the guy that made them said he's making one that's all clear next. you can laser-etch designs into the rim and they look like they're floating. Also he's designed them with lights in the outer rim that light up only the laser etched design. cool to look at, but a bit too much for my taste

Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: DarkStaR on January 02, 2009, 09:10:22 PM Not for me!!!
How much do they weigh? Acrylic scratches and would probably get hazy. Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: Speeddog on January 02, 2009, 09:57:19 PM Acrylic for the rim too?
I hope he's got good medical insurance before he seats the bead on the tire. [roll] Load on the rim flange is ~5000 lbs at 50 psi. Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: nateqwik on January 02, 2009, 10:15:10 PM Squid-worthy for sure.... For anyone else....NAH!
Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: CowboyBeebop on January 02, 2009, 11:24:57 PM I actually think its a pretty cool bike. Very clean for a squid machine, and the wheels are trick. They wouldn't look right on a Monster, but they work in this application. Very futuristic; I could see this thing tearing around the burned-out highways of Neo Tokyo for sure. Not my cup of tea, but its a well conceived and executed design.
Check out that swingarm - its almost identical to the S-R arms. I thought it was at first, but it turns out to be a Greg's Custom arm. Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: Statler on January 03, 2009, 08:30:53 AM Personal preference and all but I think they look horribly plastic and cheap. futuristic 1970s. Nice bike for Logan's Run though.

Nice bike for Logan's Run though. I would sort of expect plastic to look plastic :P Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: teddy037.2 on January 03, 2009, 09:39:11 AM you know it's a trailor queen.
slick wheels. I can dig it [thumbsup] Title: Re: Clear rims. what do you think? Post by: eichh on January 03, 2009, 02:40:20 PM They look cool and cheap at the same time, like something OCC would stick on a bike with double sided tape. I don't think I would trust them with my life to go 120 mph let alone the pothole littered roads here in Illinois. Made for a trailer queen in my opinion.
