Post by: muskrat on January 04, 2009, 05:10:50 PM
Does anyone have any low-mount cans they'd like to sell?  If so PM me and I'll forward my email for pics.
Thanks all

I have a pair of stock cans for an '06 ST3.  Not clear on which model you have, what size pipes you have or if you have a preference.  But that's what I gots.

George

PS - as someone mentioned, you might want to re-visit the Subject line of your post.  Or not.

Aftermarket or OEM cans?

preferrably after-market with some sound to them.  we have stockers on the bike but they were cut 7 inches, for some reason, and she'd like to annoy people driving by with some sound  ;D

I would need to get a set of stock cans before I can do that.  The ones on there have been cut so why not just upgrade.  Although, I'd buy some stockers to do that and see the difference.

So the ones on there aren't stock?

If they're cut down there's a strong chance that they've been cored.  If they haven't been cored, I'm sure it can still be done.

If you're set on changing to an aftermarket exhaust, there are tons to choose from.

I just checked the old board, and I'm pretty sure yours were done the same way I did the ones Bryant gave me except I only cut off less than 3". If you decide to get a pair of stockers and try to core without cutting off as much, I'd be willing to lend some know-how, tools, etc.  [thumbsup]

they are the stockers and I believe cored BUT only two rivets per can which is part of my concern.  the aftermarkets I've seen run $800 which is way too high IMO, was looking for more like $400 to $500

The ST series bike's (at least the older ones) exhaust swivel up a couple of inches to allow you to raise the exhaust when the bags are off.  To do this, the ST exhaust cans connect to the rest of the header/connector in a different way from how Monster exhausts.

The picture is of a Monster exhaust.  The ST connects closer upstream.
