This just in from DNA:
THE NEW DUCATI MONSTER 1100 S ARRIVES IN DEALER SHOWROOMS
The flagship of the Ducati Monster family arrives in showrooms this weekend
Cupertino, CA (5 January 2008) - Ducati North America is proud to announce the imminent arrival of the 2009 Monster 1100 S in US showrooms, and exciting celebrations surrounding the big-bore Monster's arrival.
This coming January 9-10th, over 100 Ducati dealers across the United States and Canada will be taking part in the Monster 1100 S showroom unveil. This event is a celebration to mark the delivery of the new naked bike that the media is hailing as a "rare breed" which "offers real charisma with its honest but visceral motorcycle charm."
Each dealership will put their own unique touches on the event, which includes a competition amongst fifty-eight of them to find the parts and service department capable of producing the coolest custom Monster.
Fifty-eight dealers in the US and Canada have taken delivery of a body panel set in order to begin paintwork on the dealership's dream Monster; and all have accessories in house waiting to be fitted on the dealership's first bike.
The weekend will celebrate the individuality and personal expression inspired by Ducati's flagship naked bike and highlight the vast potential of the Monster 1100 S.
For more information about the all-new Ducati Monster 1100 S, showroom unveil locations, and to vote on the coolest dealer custom; please visit www.ducatiusa.com .
It will be cool to see how they customize these. Any insider info? Anyone going?

So, what do we think about the new Monster?
I'm not sure but so far i won't buy one unless the exhaust and head lamp options are many

Exhausts are plentiful.
The 696/1100's are much better looking than the models they replace. I still like the Brutale headlamp best, but the 696 headlamp is fine. My only complaint with the new monsters are their hideous rear sets. I know that speedymoto is allegedly producing aftermarket rearsets, but I have yet to see them.

Are AMS doing this?
Do we need to be invited?

What's wrong with exhaust and headlight, they look just like mine... ;D
Of course there'll be a ton of aftermarket accessories for the 1100 as with all models, it''l just take a few months before they start trickling out.

HEY MAN you saying you think my bike is ugly??? [evil]
J/K :P when I first saw the 696 it didn't do much for me but I must say it's grown on me and it's been neat to see new exhaust, carbon bits etc. become available. Now I just need the price to drop so I can afford one....
On topic - can't wait to see the new bikes in person [thumbsup]
The 696 is fine but I wish the 1100 should look beefier
The 1100 motor is a sweetheart, in a 20lb lighter chassis than the hyper it should be very entertaining. AMS is on the list of dealers particiopating in the premiere weekend, so it will be a good chance to swing a leg over one. Saw one at the IMS show, but they were up on a pedestal :(
Too bad there is not a better looking front fairing for them, at least for now.
Eurosport is as well. It should be interesting to see what the 2 dealerships did with their custom paint jobs [thumbsup]

Eurosport just received their M1100. I do not think that they are doing a launch party :(

Major Bummer--are they going to customize?
I do not know. They have a white S model, and that is all I know.
The seat height feels much better than the 696. It will go on the showroom floor on Thursday.
I sat on the 1100s today, and it fealt really good. I was surprised. I really liked the feel and height. I bet its a blast to ride [moto]

I'm sure we can change the numbers on the tach to make it read 16,000 RPM. It would be a perfect bike. [thumbsup]

there's a few that have some neat art on the tanks etc...but nothing that really jumps out as being all that awesome or even customized at all beyond termis and a paintjob. of course, i'm not a huge fan of this new look, anyway. i'd take an s*r or older monster any day over the 1100. shotgun exhaust > all.
Not an M1100 [roll]
M1100 is a much better looking bike [thumbsup]
Im at the Nola dealer for the unveil party. I like the 1100 better than the 696 but i still like the old school monsters WAY more.... they just dont look as "punched out of factory" as the new bikes do. I love the fact that they put Ohlins components on the big 2v bike and they went back to a sssa. The new look is just not my cup of tea.
Bein here makes me miss u guys even more :'( I dont know anyone and half the people here have probably never even sat on a bike before. Theres a buch of guys on GS's and an odd number of Guzzies too ??? This dealer is GREAT though the ppl that work here are all cool as hell. Im gonna go mingle ttyl.
Screw it Cory, go have some gumbo. [thumbsup]

The main reason most of the bikes arent that customized is because most dealers have only had the bikes for 2 or 3 days. Max the designer of the NOLA bike got his YESTERDAY he only had a few hours to "customize" it before the unveil. It's pretty impresive how much he was able to do in such a short amount of time. Look at his compared to the others, he did a custom tailchop with a maddoctor led tail light, Termi slip ons, CRG's, and opened the clutch. Another reason the bikes still look pretty stock is because they have to leave all the stickers, reflectors, and all the other ugly factory crap on them so they can still legally sell them.

True, it is my opinion that the new monsters look better. I think that the swing arm on the bike you posted looks like something off of a 1970's Honda. It is also my opinion that the number boards on that bike just look tacky.
I personally like progress. That is just me.

no Actually the Swingarm on all old monster is straight from the 851/888 Not sure if you know those two bikes have a hadfull of World SBK titles using the exact alluminum swingarm.... might look like something old to 18yold but works pretty good on and off the track...

I am familiar with Ducati's race history. But lets be honest, the monster is all about aesthetics. not racing. And while that technology worked just fine in its day, I do not see swing arms like that on current race bikes. Things have improved a bit in the last 18 years.
Ducati riders are more opposed to updates and change than any other group I have ever encountered (except for HD maybe)

i agree with part of what you're saying.... for me it's not so much that i don't like change or progress or updates... i mean, the change/updates going from the original generation of monster to the fuel injected was pretty huge...and then to the S*R style was even bigger. but there was still something raw or oldschool about it that was still classic...still inherently raw or old schoolish. hell, i don't know, maybe it was just that damn headlight (or the shotgun exhaust on the s*r)...but it worked for me. but going from the S*R to the 1100....it just seems much too different from the last time they changed things up. like they were going for an alien look. but again, if i see an 1100 with the old school light on it...i may just be sold on it. i kind of doubt it. not saying it's not an awesome bike, though... the headlight is probably brighter, less prone to breaking the cover, and probably lasts longer. i'll still take the old one.
what can i say...when it comes to some things....i fear change!!
I wasn't a fan at all but after seeing the Monster Challenge I may have to re-think my opinion but I still hate the headlight and front exhaust. I know that would cost a pretty penny to change so I'll wait for the Streetfighter and/or Tri Colore S4RS if I can find one by then.

A headlight swap and custom bent headers probably wouldn't be that bad $$-wise. I'm sure the Martin Bros. could do that in their sleep.
I'm sure that extra ground clearance is a welcome feature to those that scrape hard parts (pegs, sidestand, and whatnot) on the classic monsters.

They weren't last Saturday. They have a white one on the floor and there was a red one outside with the Termi 2-1. I was chatting with Scott D. inside and he motioned for me to come outside to see "the demo". My ears perked up and my heart started racing. "
He's gonna let me ride it!!!!" I thought. But no, it was a total tease. Something about how the ECU's not tuned yet. blah, blah, blah... "It's ok Scott, I'll ride it as-is". What a freakin' tease. [laugh]
There's a strong possibility it'll be ready for demos by the weekend. [moto]

I almost shit my pants when I was inside the showroom, and looked out to see some dude sitting on my bike :o >:( I blipped my alarm, and almost made him shit his pants so I guess we were even :P I went out, and talked talked to the guy he couldn't stop apologizing lol he thought it was one of the dealers bikes because of where I parked. I couldn't really get mad because he didn't hurt anything, and he was actually pretty cool.
after brian's story the other day about the break-in...i've been thinking about maybe installing a scorpio system on the bike, along with a beefier chain (though the bars the chain is put around wouldn't bar hard to cut through...maybe i need a concrete anchor). which model do you have on yours? i'd ask you if you're happy with it, but i'm pretty sure i already know the answer to that one.

Mine is an SR-i600, I love it! I don't know if it's ever actually scared off a potential thief, and it's no substitute for securing your bike like Brian's. But it gives me piece of mind. It was easy to install too I got the wiring harness from Scorpio so I didn't have to cut any wires just plug it in.

Yeah I have the perimeter sensor installed. I have the anti-hijack thing too but I didn't install it. You have to cut int the ignition wire to put it on so I figured I would just rely on the imobalizer.
