Bloody cold wet crap weather. I haven't been further than around the block in more than 3 months. Got new boots, new jacket, new riding pants....
DAMN YOU WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [bang]
sounds like you need to put all your gear on and go for a snowmobile ride!
I hear you, pal. I am waiting to get my pink slip from work really soon (thrus or friday) and I could really go for a ride right about now. The weather here in PA really sucks right now.
[evil] I just bought some new heated grips for my '05 S2R-800. Super Awesome!! Today is the first day I haven't been riding in the last week. Problem though is that miles are racking up to the next service. Oxford Hot Hands <-- just do it already, seriously 15 min install and they were $60 bucks. Good luck.
Next week at this time it will be 2 months since I have ridden.
It may be 2- 3 more months depending on the weather.
I'll need a refresher course. My bikes are tucked away and hibernating...Spring can't come soon enough !
Maybe I should take a couple of weeks and go south to Barber Motor Sports and Museum or west to Scottsdale . Dolph
make the beast with two backs it. Thats why theres heated gear folks!

Ahahahaah!!!!!!!!! I WANNA RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(
1+
I have contemplated adding a snowmobile track to my Duc ... my neighbour suggested i add a sleigh to the front wheel and I'd have no problem in 2 ft of snow (evidently he's not a mechanical engineer :)
I feel sorry for you guys... It was 68 in SC today and last week it was even warmer... My bike has only been locked for 5 days tops, and that was in November when we had some record cold. It's going to get colder here, but not enough to keep from riding in the daytime.
highs in the low teens, and mines been sittin since mid october whos really going nuts
we had this on Sunday

Location is a choice. ;D
Dude. You live in Pittsburgh. What's the riding season there...45 minutes/year? ;D
I grew up in Pennsylvania. If memory serves, there are two weather patterns: warm and rain or cold and snow.

Go put some miles on your bike for me.

CELSIUS here [thumbsup]

Yeah pretty much. We had a good summer though, I rode to work for nearly 3 months straight with only 2-3 days/month when I had to take the cage due to crap weather.
i haven't been on the bike since november...
...and i've got a ways to go till spring.
winter living in new england is rough,
if you're not into any winter sports
(winter sports do not include watching the pellet stove, nate) ;)
when spring finally does arrive, i always think i'll forget how to ride...
...but i don't & the first ride after a looong winter is fantastic!
It was 80 here on Saturday. Got a great ride in and even got the tires up to temp.
Maybe because I'm new, there is something I'm not getting, but why aren't you guys riding? I mean I get that riding in the snow and ice is disastrous, but why let cold or wet weather keep you away from riding? I've been very happy with my raingear and heated gear. I'm perfectly cozy in my little micro-environment. Here in north jersey it's been raining (and/or snowing) every other day since September and for the worst of it, yea I'll take the cage. But the next day, provided the roads aren't snow covered or icy, I'm back on the bike.
I guess I'm just full of noobie exuberance. Maybe next year I'll winterize the bike for 2 or 3 months. I'm not "calling you guys out" or anything, I'm just enjoying riding so much I'll do anything and everything to keep on it. Does Bridgestone make studded snow tires?
i'll call them out.
it's 34 and raining today.
last night i had a layer of ice on me by the time i got home.
i was warm and dry
get rain gear for the wet (this includes snow, sleet, and rain)
get heated gear for the cold
keep good tires on, be smooth, don't overdo it.
ohh yeah, handguards help to keep the water off your hands and therefore out of your gloves.

i've said this before to you... but i'll say it again... you are hardcore [bow_down]
The problem here in PA is that PennDot sees the need to put about 2 inches of cinders on the road when we are expecting 1/4" of snow. Now while "driving" all you hear is little rocks chipping away at your paint allowing the salt to eat away at EVERYTHING. [puke] [bang]
Spring and Summer riding here are very nice though. ;)

haha, usually the word people use is "stupid", but i'll take hardcore ;)
it also saves me a ton in gas money.

i live in conshohocken, just outside of Philly.
I go through the salt and cinders too.
if it makes you guys feel any better, i will go for a ride tonight and be thinking about you. its a bit chilly out right now (55), but nothing too cold. i just cant stand to ride in anything less than about 45-50 though.
Is it worse to have Parked Motorcycle Syndrome when you live in an area where this is an expected event during the winter months, or to have to park the bike wen you don't expect to and do not anticipate days and weeks passing by without being able to roll the bike out of the driveway?
Last Saturday was my first ride in 22 days here in Seattle. Sunday three of us went out in the mid-thirties for five hours--in heated gear. But when I tucked the Monster away the evening of the 11th after the Streetfighter launch party (which I attended in leathers!) I had No Clue it was going to end up this way.

+1, I took advantage of some of the sales and bought all new leather "summer" riding gear but I haven't rode in two weeks or worn my new gear out yet!
I'm in California, but the weather where I'm at has been cold and wet lately, except of course when I have been at work.
Gawd, sweet pics Trouble.
65 and clear today after about a wk and a half of cloudy, rainy weather, so I got a ride in.
On the down side, my 696 has it's 1st oil leak! Awww, isn't that cute? It really is Italian. ;D
C'mon guys, Pittsburgh has 4 seasons: Almost winter, winter, still winter, road construction. The scrambler still has the factory knobbies on it...might have to give it a shot ;D
I will gladly trade you guys a few degrees for some twisties.....the on/off ramps are not doing it for me anymore [coffee]
i've gone through worse.
my bike was off the road in early July waiting for shipping. then after delays wasn't shipping until October. arrived here december. but due to stupid regs here haven't been able to get registered since arriving. now i missed the 40-50 degree indian summer we had in december and it was officially 7 degrees farenheit here yesterday.

Just rub salt on the snow!
I went for a "hike", or was that a wade on the local mountains at the 1200 ft level ... in 4 feet of snow; luckily we had a warm snap with 100 mm of rain yesterday (I really prefer the snow though) and it melted the 2ft of snow at lower elevations .... to about 1 ft ....

That's not so much fun when you're 59 1/2 ....got a busted Rib, possibly a torn Rotator Cuff ,and full of Osteo Arthritis .
Hell, just trying to get geared up is more of a pain than any joy from riding in cold rain or frigid cold temps looking out for the dumbasses in their cages who sure aren't looking out for a bike in those conditions . Dolph

i'm not that old, and i don't have that much arthritis, but i can tell you when it's going to rain/sleet/snow, when it has actually started, and when it stops. all without having to look outside. hell, i can't move my wrists without them cracking.
maybe when i get to be an old grump (i'm just young and bitter now) i'll let it stop me, but until then i'm riding.
as for the other drivers, they aren't looking for me anyways so the big difference is my ability to stop and maneuver. i just leave extra room and time for that in bad weather.
wooohooo 77 today east of Los Angeles 8)
