Title: Collide-A-Scope Experience
Post by: Six95 on January 13, 2009, 12:54:55 AM
Just like to share this with you. I'll try to cut to the chase quickly -

M695 - From the factory did not come with front windscreen and rear seat cover. However you can buy the genuine "kit" with all the bits and pieces to fit my bike for a "premium".

Myself - I'm very envious of everyone who has a windscreen and seat cover on their Mo.

Both Fraser's and Northside have quoted me AU$1100, Can get in the states for US$573. The financial crash caught everyone by suprise and a US purchase was now out of the question.
Been ebayin' for the last 12 months and kept getting outbidded on the actual bundled kit. They rarely pop up.
Went onto italy ebay and a brand new one popped up in the dark version. I ended up getting it for E$180 shipped to my door.

I went to Collide-A-Scope this morning before work. The service there was really really amazing. They had the colour matched while I waited and proceeded to to spray it today (in the gloss black). It should be ready for pick-up tomorrow, all in a friendly and positive attitude.
Nathan (who I think is the owner) also kept on reinforcing that he is a "perfectionist". Hopefully his work reflects this..

Yes, I could have done the same thing with second hand stuff, but Im super anal about second hand bling. I'm hoping that the paint job will be good enough to outweigh the the fact that it was once a matte black colour in it's previous life - if you get my drift....

I'll keep you posted. So far, based on how I was treated today - I'd recommend his services.

the proof of the pudding is in the eating, save your recommendation until the job's done and you're happy with the quality, service and price. nice to see you got the bits you wanted at a reasonable price, it's hard to understand the disparity in pricing from country to country, but the net, and e-bay in particular keeps savvy buyers out of the poor house and dealers from fleecing us.

thanks for sharing the story, i might have to visit ebay italy to find a rear seat cowl for my monster!

I bought a "carbon fibre" one off fleabay... haven't been able to fit it properly, brackets don't line up (genuine ducati brackets from Frasers only $5.5 per side).. been in touch with the seller and he says he'll help me but when i tried calling him, left a voicemail, he hasn't gotten back to me.

+1

The only negative I've heard about them is they're often very busy and it can take a while to get stuff done - sounds like you got lucky there!

My ex-flatmate had some panels on his Hayabusa redone by them after a mysterious incident at a workshop when it was in for servicing, and they did a fabulous job - 100% no indication it'd ever been retouched, but it did take a while (from memory there was quite a lot of stuffing around getting the right decal set from Suzuki and some arguments over whos fault that was...)
