I'm going in for dental work on Friday and I'm going to have Nitrous for the first time. I'm unsure of what to expect. :-\
Anyone willing to share his/her experience.
Have someone take you to the dentist and pick you up, you'll be in no condition to drive.
That said, enjoy!! ;D [laugh]
Lucky you, :D
+1 to the above comment. You are gonna feel very drunk afterword and feel like a million bucks ( I did anyway ;D)
Good luck!
Oh man are you in for a treat. That stuff is awesome. Having a ride will make it more enjoyable.
My advice is to take as deep of breaths as possible. ;D ;D ;D
Go buy a can of whipped cream, don't shake it, exhale deeply, put mouth over spout with can upright & dispense while inhaling deeply, hold your breath...
(and make sure you have something soft to land on! :) )
You will be fine, it wears off pretty quick.
You'll feel like you're settling into a velour blanket 3 feet thick.
You'll still be awake and you'll feel whats going on, you just won't give a shit.
Thanks for the quick replies.
I was was already informed I need a ride, so B's going to drive. [thumbsup]
I've reading up on it, and it sounds pretty safe.

But I rather not remember.
The dentist is my least favorite place to go. :-X
The experience = wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (of course, I've never had it at dentist ;D)

If you're gonna do that, do it sitting down. Heads don't bounce too well.
i was a blast last time i had it but not the dentist part, my dentist threatened to sew my tongue to my cheek because i was talking non stop ;D
I confessed some sins to the hygenist one time. But was still able to ride the bike afterwards.
I was laughing uncontrolably another time. It was hilarious, the dentist was getting all of his staff to come in for a good laugh.
Another dentist was an old hippie- he was totally messing with me, saying stuff like- whats so funny... is it the LAUGHING GAS? And of course I would start cracking up.
Man I need a dentist appointment. Its actually pretty fun when you are high on nitrous. [thumbsup]
I just had a thread on here from my first nitrous experience last Friday!! !! !!
Nitrous=THE BEST!!
If you can..have the assistant get you in the room early and start the nitrous pumping FIRST thing!
Breathe into your nose AS QUICK & AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!
Take your I-Pod and crank it when they start the drilling. Repeat on your favorite song or two. One that gives you good memories. [thumbsup]
Make sure they crank the nitrous because you are terrified of the dentist!
My bottle had to be changed mid-procedure. When they put in the new bottle, the drilling was done and so was I!! That new bottle was great!! All I could think about was them working on my teeth with my mouth wide open and a giant shit-grin on my face. I started laughing about it and the dentist and the assistant were both laughing at me and making jokes. [laugh]
I didn't feel a thing though..maybe a little pressure from the drill..but no pain. The nitrous made me feel like I was drunk and floating. You'll love it!
After the procedure, I had to sit in the chair for awhile to "sober up". I also sat in the car too for about 15 minutes but was able to drive home after.
Don't worry at all though!! You will feel what's going on but you'll have NO PAIN and that is the key. Your mind will be on other things.
:)
Well they don't call it laughing gas for nothing - it's hilarious!
Although I've never done it in a clinical setting almost all the places I've worked have an unlimited supply. A 65 gallon drum liner/plastic bag, a crescent wrench and SIT DOWN, because if you aren't seated you will immediately fall down and may well hurt yourself. Don't ass me how I know.
But don't worry, the high goes away almost as soon as you blow the breath out. [clap] [clap]

Okay.
I think this thread has served it's purpose. I'm going to lock it for now.
I'll report on my experience at the end of the week. [thumbsup]
Well I survived my first nitrous experience. I think it went well.
I didn't have any pain and for the most part didn't realize what was going on around me.
It took longer than I thought it would to take effect, but once it did, I was flying.
The noise distortion was a little unnerving at first.
It seemed best when I didn't try to make myself so aware of what was going on, and I just relaxed and enjoyed the high.
At time times it seemed the dentist and assistant were talking, but weren't.
And towards the end I had the wierd sensation I was in a video game. Things were moving fast around me and there was lots of beeping.
Will I do it again? Definately.
i wonder if anyone ever [puke] from it...
I've read that if you do [puke], the denstist had the concentration of Nitrous to Oxygen too high.
A 30/70 (nitrous/oxygen) mix is best.
I was suprised at how fast it wore off without any sort of hangover.

<snip>
..is that possible? [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
I will always regret having my wisdom teeth taken out with local only. Ran out partway through the procedure (just in time for the drilling). :P
Glad it went well DD. Yes, it does take awhile to take kick in..unfortunately.
I have a few more visits coming up. They've already made a note to get the nitrous on me ahead of time! [thumbsup]
i wish they had used nitros when i was a kid...
might have saved me some serious issues...
