Found it here: http://www.duc.nu/pictures/10-04-04/ It's on a Duc. Don't think there's enough space on the Monster for the same setup nor know if it's legal or if there's a real use for it, but thought it was pretty ingenious. Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: DucHead on January 14, 2009, 03:35:37 PM [laugh] [laugh] That's pretty slick!

The only thing I could think was avoiding Traffic Cameras. [evil] Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: He Man on January 14, 2009, 03:51:32 PM toll cameras, some people wheelie across and others just pay . ;)
Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: z0mb1e_DUC on January 14, 2009, 06:40:38 PM can you say original eqpt Hooligan MOD?!
lets see, traffic cams, toll both cams, speed cams... Don't worry, be HAPPY Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Mojo S2R on January 14, 2009, 07:04:11 PM More better hightech solution: http://www.1tail.com/sa/p/ECLIPSE_SECURITY_BLACKOUT_LICENSE_FRAME_KIT.htm (though a bit pricey)

Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: hbliam on January 15, 2009, 01:11:51 AM Yep. Can't put anything over your plate in CA.
Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Holden on January 15, 2009, 01:32:39 AM thats pretty obvious though Not to mention ooglay! :-X Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: ruester007 on January 15, 2009, 06:05:58 AM That is awesome! I always wanted to do something like this, just be ready with an excuse if you get busted like "No officer, that's not to hide my plate. It so I can take it off rode and not mess-up my plate."

Dutch plate, FYI, and def not legal here! ;D Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Norm on January 15, 2009, 06:40:54 AM Around here, if you get cought with a plate cabable of being hidden while underway, you'll be getting your bike out of impound.
Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: ProTeal55 on January 15, 2009, 07:30:29 AM Just spray your plate with coat after coat after coat of clear spraypaint.
Yes it will give off a slight yellow "tint" to the plate, but traffic cameras cant read it due to the glare of the sun/headlights, etc.. I have more than enough cop buddies who have confirmed this works.. Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: ghosthound on January 15, 2009, 07:41:16 AM i tried this and it didnt work with my own tests with a normal camera...
as for the pivoting plate... i dont think police would realize what it was unless they saw you move it up and down. I think it would be cool for when you park it to hide the plate for asthetics. Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: sbrguy on January 15, 2009, 07:44:34 AM just bc its illegal in ca doesn't mean people won't do it. afterall the ca dmv gives you two license plates for your car and a lot of people never put the front one on, and they are supposed to by law.
Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Slide Panda on January 15, 2009, 07:50:57 AM There's a commercial flate flipper kit out there
http://www.plateflipper.com/ (http://www.plateflipper.com/) For show purposes only... of course Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Mojo S2R on January 15, 2009, 08:59:11 AM Hey yuu, Nice find.
(http://www.plateflipper.com/animatedbike.gif) Better price too. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: MaxPower on January 15, 2009, 10:02:10 AM Just spray your plate with coat after coat after coat of clear spraypaint. I have more than enough cop buddies who have confirmed this works.. I coat every plate I've had with this stuff (http://www.photoblocker.com/). I speed religiously and am yet to get a ticket, soooo... it might be working. Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Mojo S2R on January 15, 2009, 10:30:54 AM I thought I saw an episode of Mythbusters that proved that stuff didn't work. Maybe not the same stuff, but same idea. ???
Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: hbliam on January 15, 2009, 11:33:03 AM just bc its illegal in ca doesn't mean people won't do it. afterall the ca dmv gives you two license plates for your car and a lot of people never put the front one on, and they are supposed to by law. Of course being illegal doesn't stop people from doing it. Not putting a front plate on isn't the crime of the century but is PC to stop you anytime I want. I rarely stop motos. One reason I do is when I can't read the plate. If I can't read the plate I can't run it and verify that some tool didn't steal your bike. If I stop you and everything is cool you will most likely be on your way. Most cops are going to be a bit more forgiving of a no front plate over a rigged to hide plate. Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Mojo S2R on January 15, 2009, 11:44:53 AM Points wellmade hbliam. Thanks for the info [thumbsup]

Maybe not the same stuff, but same idea. ??? Who knows, maybe I'm just really, really lucky. Price was cheap enough anyway. I do like that frame that obscures the plate, though. I was throwing around that exact idea a couple months ago with my buddy, before I knew such a product existed. Guess I'll have to improve my design... Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: Mojo S2R on January 15, 2009, 04:04:05 PM I thought that one was pretty slick too except for how bulky it looks. Make something that wraps nicely aroung the plate and you may have the ticket. [moto]

Title: Re: Check out this license plate mod Post by: hcomp on January 17, 2009, 05:39:03 PM The plate spray does work. Here is a picture I took with that spray on my plate. This is the Photoblocker Spray (same as in the link above)
