...or is everyone just a little more cranky then normal on this thing? Boy, I know I am still very new to the forum, but after 5 months of being here, the last couple weeks seem to be not so fun around here. I know its easy to be negative than be positive, but wow. If I am being overly sensitive, please tell me. I'm even reluctant for posting this for fear of someone blasting me, but what do I have to lose at this point. I think the most disappointing thing I read in a recent post, was when a new member of the forum asked a simple question and some folks actually seemed to go out of their way to make them feel dumb. That rarely happened even a couple months ago. And god forbid if you had an opinion that someone might not agree with.
Take a look at the recent posts if you don't believe me. I put a simple link about the Ducati Cafe. Then it turned into a posting about being a poser if you go to Starbucks for a coffee. Seriously? And what about the OCC post? Geez, I bet that member regrets putting that up.
It's a bummer.
Well let's see, Today the hight temp is -5 and some of us will not see 40's for months. So if some of us are a little cranky, please be patient.
That sucks. It's 81 and sunny here in So Cal. Great day to ride. Unfortunately most people in So Cal always seem to have something up there butts. Spring is right around the corner for you!

I think the board is pretty friendly. The only thing I find a little unwelcoming is the whole "derby" thing. It dissuades people from posting interesting stuff for fear that they may be set upon by the r e p o s t patrol. Of course, several threads about the same topic is annoying, but often things that get attacked for being r e p o s t s are actually new to me, and were buried so deep that I would have never come across them otherwise.
Well, I'm not aware of the Tech post of which you're referring, but as for the OCC post, The guy posts a pic of a (over the top) chopper and then asks for peoples thoughts. Well, he got 'em. A simple perusal of similar threads shows that this isn't a chopper-loving group. So, no biggie. :)
Maybe it is the cold weather in the east, but maybe not.
Either way, take the good with the bad and hang out. In the end the good will outweigh the bad.
Ya, the board generally gets a bit grumpier in the winter. :)
Seems to me like you're also being a bit oversensitive. ;) The board is still very friendly from what I see.

Well, I hope that's the case. It would be a shame to see too much of the 'bad' make people stop coming here. I'm a new Ducati rider and it's great to learn from and share with other riders, so this board means a lot to me as it does to most everyone else here. Yeah, it's beyond cold here in Boston. I just don't want it to get too cold here on the DMF. ;)
It's a typical winter thing. People get crankier and crankier until we have trouble telling them apart from Nate.
It'll clear up soon enough.

Fair enough. Thanks folks. Good to know it's a temporary thing.
I rode today

Winter shminter. I hate anybody any season. Especially softies and midgets.
I had noticed a little crankiness too, I guess, but remembering winter from the 1 yr I lived on the East Coast, I can understand.
And as far as northern winters - NEVER AGAIN!
;D
I'll say I am also a bit crankier because I live in the DC Metro area and aside from the cold weather, I am sick of the news being about the Inauguration and all the problems it is going to cause around here because of the different projections of people in town...I want it to be over and done with and this gridlock thing for the event happen and be done.
It is not un-friendly crankiness. It is more like sarcastic crankiness.
And, -27F here.

It's just you. :)
I'm just cranky cause we had a few hot days here. Got up to 150 F Wednesday at my house (in the shade).
Ah, the Australian summer. I still rode though :).
Can`t blame the weather either, it was a nice 31 dgrees C here yesterday [thumbsup]
Over the weekend I will be cranked over at the track ;D
winter?
;D
It's because I haven't posted lately, spreading happiness and sunshine wherever I go!!!
Fret not my misguided friend.
The Forum is here for the good , the bad , and the Cranky.
What do Monster riders like to do maybe more than.... get laid ?
That's right...ride their scoot.
With the weather being like the coming of the next Ice Age for a lot of us ...we can't ride our beloved Monsters and in some cases maybe no nooky either.
You know like the : Pipes freeze or the Love Canal freezes over "
Hang around and when things turn "green " again in Cleveland everybody will be all good. Dolph
as others have said, its mostly an annual thing. when so much of the country is under a ton of snow and ice, people have too much time to spend here.
happened the same on TOB (no surprise, since this is the same basic group)
I'm on several moto-boards, pretty universal ~
JM
I think it is just the time of year.
It is too cold to ride in most of the country, everyone is recovering financially after the holiday's while the economy sucks, and the people who live in the cold are jealous of those who live in the southwest (i.e. PHX) and are talking about how great this time of year is for riding ;D
In six months it will be a different group that is grumpy and I will be making mean posts rubbing the bandaid where the IV needle was after riding all day in 110 degree heat and getting heat stroke.
I'm new here too and I just take things with a grain of salt and don't take anything personally.
In some ways this is the online version of going to a bar and sharing a pitcher of beer with people who you kind of know who share a common interest. Take the sarcasm as a joke and just smile and nod like you would at your favorite watering hole. [drink]
I agree, there are definitely some subjects that get jumped on quickly, like an initial poster not doing a subject search first... and it increases in the winter months.
I think:
A) We could all use a nice beer
B) We sould put ice track tires on our rides and mount up some skis on our feet and see how the 'Ol Italians like the snow.

The political board kept most of the cranky people in a corner fighting each other. Now they have spread like the black plague.

Sounds like you broke the record from 1922 for the hottest temperature recorded on earth...by 14 degrees!
Sure about that? Being sarcastic maybe? ;D
I haven't been able to ride since mid-November, and probably won't be able to until late March (if then)....
And I plan on posting pics of my panhead rigid here when it's done and if some don't like it, make the beast with two backs 'em. ;D
