Title: High temperature paint or ceramic coating? Post by: DucHead on January 17, 2009, 05:27:14 AM Is ceramic coating "tougher" than high-temperature paint?
The headers and midpipe on my Bandit are ceramic coated, and soon after I bolted them up, debris thrown by the front wheel removed a little of the coating, and I've noticed that they are susceptible to scratches. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the ceramic coating. I've also have been impressed with high-temperature paint (plus it's easy to rattle-can on yourself), but it's come off quickly on my Quat-D exhaust. I did bake it after painting, but perhaps not hot/long enough. I want to remove the Quat-D and modify the mounting bracket to create space for grommets, and afterward either re-paint it, or have it ceramic coated. I'm just not sure which. Thoughts, suggestions? I had thought about wrapping my pipes or ceramic coating them. Maybe I'll just go the duplicolor high temp with ceramic route.

It is very durable. I am temped to try it on my exhaust but I do not have an oven big enough to bake it afterwards. I worry about scratching it while putting it back on to "bake" it by running the bike. works well, bakes on good with exhaust temp.
