There's no reason not to do both, is there? Maybe we do a south run, starting in Cronulla rather than Kirrawee.... Dock is seeing this as an opportunity to introduce like monded people to the forum. That's not a bad thing, me thinks... We're trying to sort out some cards (who remembers them from the DML!) for the DMF and particulary the Oz Monsters forum.. I'm thinking of riding up from Melbourne with a fellow Ducatista. I wonder if anyone could recommend good motel(s) in the areas surrounding Cronulla. Thanks in advance. G Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: DUCMONROB on January 31, 2009, 07:59:32 PM There is a Rydges in Cronulla but it is quite old.
There is also a Quest apartments right near the beach too which is quite new. Hopes this helps you out. [thumbsup] Rob Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: G on January 31, 2009, 08:56:04 PM Thanks Rob.
I saw those on the web and my mate questioned whether we may be able to get lower price accomodation if we looked in the surrounding areas; perhaps further away from the beach. I've got a mate in Richmond, but it is a fair way away. Cheers, G Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: mattyvas on January 31, 2009, 09:16:24 PM Hey G,
Have a look at Caringbah, Miranda, Kirrawee, Sutherland, Woolaware (on the Kingsway). You should be able to find cheaper Accomm in these suburbs that are all close to Cronulla. Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: G on January 31, 2009, 09:45:43 PM Thanks Matty.
I'm checking out Miranda... Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: DUCMONROB on February 01, 2009, 12:16:38 AM Thanks Matty. I'm checking out Miranda... Miranda is not too far. There is a motel in Sutherland which looks economical. When I drive past tomorrow I will have a look at the name. We will stay in Canberra on the first (Thursday) night and head out to the Coast. In short, it will depend on when we leave and how long it takes to ride up the coast and through the RNP on the Friday. Haven't ridden that road yet. We'll be staying in Cronulla. :) The plans are only rough at this stage as we only started to concieve the trip on Saturday. ;) Before that I wasn't sure if I'd make it. Dam shame, but I'm sure there'll be another time. Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: G on February 08, 2009, 03:58:10 AM roads travelled? Highlight? (other than meeting Vince, Jukie, GF, Matty et al) good amount of k's in that trip mate, well done! G'day Spider. Transport section to Cann River. I had a ball on the Cann River to Bombala section. One of the factors that made it so enjoyable was the roadsurface and it's lack of leaf litter and gravel (for that day at least ;) ) There are some tighter corners on this road and i was revisiting Superbike School Level 1 Quicksteering techniques... The road up around Cooma to Canberra enabled relatively high speed work on more sweeper type roads. The second day saw us heading out towards Braidwood. We had tossed up a road just before Braidwood, but I decided against it on the spur of the moment when I heard that it had 35km of dirt. Got nervous about not making it there for the Monster count. In the end we took the King's Highway (I think) out to Bateman's Bay. Now that was Awesome! Lotsa downhill hairpins and such like. To give you an idea of the gradient; there are run-offs for vehicles towing caravans in the event of brake failure. Took a wrong turn and ended up Mt Keira on our way to Frasers Wollongong (Fairy Meadow). That was a nice road too; very twisty and a little bumpy in places. After that we road out to the coast. We wanted to check out the Seacliff Bridge: very cool. Even though the speed limit is fairly low the corners, cambers and spectacular scenery made this ride a pleasure. Finally, we rode through the Royal National Park. I thought it was paradise. Luscious green canopy over a great road. Luckily, we rode it on the Friday afternoon on the way in. I get the imrpession that with it's relatively close proximity to Sydney, it would be a highly popular road on the weekend. ;) The rest was transport stage. we're going to do a lot of the roads you're talking about - tho I'm guessing the scenery in some parts is going to be a little different after all the fires. I'm looking forward to the Cann River to Bombala, Bombala to Eden, Browns Mountain, The kings highway, great alpine road, the alpine way, the spurs..... damn I'm getting pretty excited about the whole damn trip! Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: heatherp on February 08, 2009, 04:25:20 AM Black spur - burnt :'( not sure about Reefton spur think it's okay so far. And there's fires up round Beechworth too.
But I'm still looking forward to it even though Doc's promising to be an Angel in his sleep [laugh] Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: G on February 08, 2009, 04:30:55 AM G I'm really sorry but I don't think I got to meet you. Me likewise Matty. :)Dam shame, but I'm sure there'll be another time. I had a Corbin seat on my old Monster and recently, I had been considering a DP touring seat. But, generally I get away with doing lots of kms on the standard seat. I should mention that there was a little bit of roadwork going on the King's Highway, but not enough to spoil the pleasure. Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: Betty on February 11, 2009, 03:14:25 AM and tell me, what's andy up to in that shot? Never you mind. Geez he pregnant doges, moans and shows a general lack of respect for our babies, perves on our women (or perhaps us blokes in compromising situations) and then rides off with his full protection Mambo riding shirt flapping in the breeze. Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: Dockstrada on February 11, 2009, 03:16:54 AM and tell me, what's andy up to in that shot? I think he's playing with Betty's monster [cheeky] Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: mattyvas on February 11, 2009, 03:45:05 AM yeah and the bloke hasn't come here to say hello or anything.

(http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n305/Jaqhama/Ducatis%20at%20Cronulla%20Feb%202009/UNI_1029.jpg) Wow, what a hot little thing, I wonder how it goes....... I mean the bike Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: mattyvas on February 12, 2009, 02:41:36 PM I'd be thinking those tyres would be kinda Fred Flinstone like. There would be a lot of noise.
I'm sure riding fast would not be very advisable. Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: Super T.I.B on February 12, 2009, 02:53:18 PM I'd be thinking those tyres would be kinda Fred Flinstone like. Don't get me wrong, I do like some of there bikes, but the 'hillclimbers' are a bit [roll] Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: Betty on February 12, 2009, 03:19:30 PM I saw that Deus bike while I was there. I didn't see the young lass that was riding it though! Judging by the accompanying photos, could it have been a Spawn related attendance? (didn't meet either). Oh, and I reckon it would be a crap ride. Title: Re: Monster Beach Party Post by: Dannog on February 12, 2009, 09:33:12 PM Your all probably right about it riding like crap!... the girl on the other hand
