I'd like to get suggestions and feedback for movers from you fine folks here on the DMF. It'll be a cross-country move from the Framingham/Boston area to Las Vegas. It may or may not include a car along with the move also.
First hand experience is greatly appreciated, but not an absolute preference. Chime in with anyone to avoid also.
Thanks in advance! [thumbsup]
When I got moved from Boston to SF, my company used Graebel. No idea on the price, but they did a great job of keeping track of my stuff, loading it, and unloading it.
Kewl thanks.
i have used a couple different ones...
find a company that will send someone out and do an estimate...in person. dont fall for the clowns that want you to fill out their paperwork for them before they will quote you a price (which they can then get out of, since it was just a quote, by you, not an expert.)
usually, the good ones will send a guy out who has been a driver, or worked in the business as a packer/loader long enough to really know their stuff.
once you have a couple of quotes, pick a company, and lock in the cost. this will save you money if fuel prices go up again, or other costs change.
if you are paying for it, pack all your own stuff, except the fragile stuff (glasses, plates, etc...) this will save a bunch of money as well. most moving companies will sell of give you good used boxes and packing material. but even if you have to buy new, get it from a moving company, as it will be a lot cheaper than uhaul, UPS, office depot, etc...
feel free to PM me if you want some more tips on this.
Thanks!
also check craigslist for people giving away moving boxes or selling them really cheap
unity van lines ask for michelle tell them Beck sent you , cheap and fast [thumbsup]
I've had six corporate relocations in the last ten years. Five of the Six were with Atlas Van Lines.
If I ever have to move again, I will use Atlas without a doubt.
