Title: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: Goat_Herder on January 19, 2009, 12:44:32 PM Since everybody got all fired up on the OCC thread, I thought I'd start another chopper related thread. Sorry if this has been posted before but here it is.
Meet the Honda Fury. http://powersports.honda.com/furyreveal/default.aspx#/home (http://powersports.honda.com/furyreveal/default.aspx#/home) Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: stopintime on January 19, 2009, 12:48:15 PM Nice reflectors........
Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: speedevil on January 19, 2009, 12:50:56 PM It's not altogether bad, the 1300 engine is a single-crankpin design, so the exhaust sound is the popular potato-potato.
The problem - Honda is about 5-6 years too late. They're very late to the party. Why do the marketing people that run projects like this still have their jobs? I predict it will sell just as well as did the Rune. Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: lagerman72 on January 19, 2009, 01:03:33 PM Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: Jarvicious on January 19, 2009, 04:52:05 PM It's a bit chrometastic (but hey, that's what attracts the cruiser crowd right?) but I'd still take one over a any harley. Not that I have anything against Harley as a company, just think there are better bikes out there for the price. It may be a toss up between the Fury and a Victory Hammer, however.

Does being a Japanese chopper change the expectation for the requisite skank that rides on the back? If you ride it to Sturgis will all the other lawyers on Harleys point and laugh? Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: dutchy73 on January 19, 2009, 07:50:15 PM So who exactly do they think is the audience for that thing? ???

Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: bluemoco on January 20, 2009, 09:32:42 AM FUGLY!!! Cheap looking to boot! Really? That seems a bit extreme. I'm reserving final judgment 'til I see one in person, but IMO they did a nice job on the styling. Perform the obligatory reflectorectomy and give it some subtle turn signals, and it's a pretty tight style. I especially like how Honda integrated the engine's radiator into the design - they did a MUCH better job than some other OEMs we're familiar with... That doesn't change the the fact that I don't like choppers........... Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: il d00d on January 20, 2009, 10:25:36 AM If you already like chopper-flavored bikes, I reckon you won't dislike this. It definitely is not an attempt to reach out to a wider audience. Something that is hard for me to overlook on this kind of bike is that triangle of visual dead space between the top front piston and the head tube - it is just... nothingness.
But I have to agree that this is a day late, and probably a dollar short. If someone was in the market for a modernized chopper, I bet the Vrod will be more attractive. If I wanted a chopper, I'd give it a look. If nothing else, it'd probably be reliable and somewhat peppy. Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: superjohn on January 20, 2009, 01:46:54 PM I don't know why everyone's always slagging on the Indiana. It's not THAT bad for a bike made in the 1980's for the purpose of cruising.

Way overpriced IMO. Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: Norm on January 21, 2009, 07:37:16 AM I knida like the Fury, it's a clean expresion of a popular bike design. I'm sure I'll find things that I won't like when/if I see it in person, but I tend to be a little nit-picky. Did anyone notice that it has less steering trail than a 9*6?

Why didn't they just bring that over here? I don't understand why companies would make US specific products that are terrible. Take Ford as an example, the Euro spec cars are great! They have the Ka, Mondeo, and even the Focus is great, built on a totally different platfrom than the US spec Focus. I just don't get it... Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: sroberts152 on January 22, 2009, 01:02:32 AM The best part about this "chopper" is the shaft drive.
I like choppers. I just don't like this. This, "bolt on to make it your own" bs that destroys the whole idea of a chopper. Chopper - Chopped - Cut frame and extended. Add a different seat and mirrors and voila - it's "custom". It's not custom. You cant change out a front sprocket with a shaft drive, you cant even change out for a different size rear tire with a shaft drive. Its too small to be a beach cruiser so the bars look wrong. Stock forks, stock huge fender. They really didn't even try. Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! I'd probably even have to buy one. :) Title: Re: Honda is bringing on the Fury! Post by: eichh on January 22, 2009, 05:00:06 AM I remember I bought my Honda Shadow a long time ago when I was young and naive because it looked like a Harley but cost 1/3 the price. I agree they are 8-10 years to late with this idea, but I suppose I might fulfill someones dream about owning a chopper looking bike without paying 50k . Its OK looking, I would compare it to plain yogurt not good but not bad its just kind of there.

It looks like someone crossed an H-D Fat Boy with a Victory Hammer, then stretched the snot outta the front of the frame. |
