(i didnt write this, who knows who did)
One of the most highly anticipated vehicles to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson this year was the first 2010 Chevy Camaro. There are very few instant classics these days, and this is one of them. There's still a month before actual series production of the car is slated to begin, but the winning bidder claimed the right to the very first retail production car that can be ordered in any color and with any options he chooses. Last year, it took exactly one-million dollars to win the hotly contested rights to the first 2009 Corvette ZR1, and this year $350,000 claimed the first edition of the newly-revived Camaro. Just as with last year's ZR1, all proceeds from this Camaro's sale will benefit the American Heart Association, which means that anything over the car's MSRP will be tax deductible by the winning bidder.

WANT! (not for 350k tho)
That car is indeed sick.
Beautiful, and the Dodge Challenger isn't bad either.
1) that better be a stick and
2) about time they built a car I'd actually want.
Finally.
They did a nice job on this one.

WHAT?!? No side-exit exhaust?!? Funny though... Add some window netting and a license plate and it could be a LOT of tickets...er...fun!
Yes, yes...finally a Camaro (other than the '67) that I would consider buying. [thumbsup] to GM.
Looks a little Mustang-y to me.
Awesome
I would have liked to see a non-pointy grill, but otherwise it's sweet.
Not that I'll ever buy one.

when's the last time you saw a camaro w/o a pointy grill?
Well, those two pics don't do a whole lot for me. [coffee]
Gotta see it in the metal.
I didn't like the pics of the Boxster before it came out, but really liked the car. YMMV.

That 67 is on my list of dream cars. love the hideaway headlamps. It's "Lane's" car.

Helps deflect pedestrians to the sides rather than landing them on the windshield ;D

Just seems a little too pointy. That being said my favorite gen bar none is the 2nd. About 11 years ago a coworker almost sold me his 72 Z28 for 4500 until his wife talked him out of it. In that time a grand total of maybe 500 miles has been put on, and it wasn't in the greatest shape back then. And now I'll never be able to afford one :'(
I want a new Firebird. :|
<3 my Trans-Am
I was at the Barrett auction when that Camaro came across the block. It was pretty exciting! We were standing about 50 ft away from the block, but we weren't bidding. $350k is a little heavy for my car budget these days... [laugh]
The new Camaros look great in person. At the Chevy corporate display near the Westworld entrance, they had a red one that was built for SEMA. It was powered by a 7.0L engine mated to a 6-speed manual -- the engine is a crate engine available from GM Performance. No word on production availability for that powertrain, but.... [evil] [thumbsup]
The convertible version of the Camaro will look terrific. That's (tentatively) due for production about 1 year after the coupe is introduced. [beer]
Why you would want to ruin a car by getting a convertible, I have no idea ???

well, you're in minnesota. move someplace where it's sunny 95% of the year and it makes a lot more sense.

So they phochopped it from two different angles?
I can't think of one single car that looks as good as a convertible as it does a hard top. To my eye it ruins the lines of the car.
Targas are ok.
Who wants a convertible when ya got a bike? [moto]

werd.
so what happened to the calipers?
New braking system released for this car
Centrifical Rotor System or CRS suprised you guys missed it in the blogs....
lol
we were channel surfing when we caught this getting auctioned off. Nascar guy bought it. Wasn't it Ray Evernham??
I think the yellow car with the missing brake calipers is actually the movie car from "TRANSFORMERS" ....
Since it is a movie car and was used VERY early in the life of the new camaro, it probably did not have brakes, just a "roller"
Here is another shot of the other side from the movie production:

Evernham is a Chrysler guy. I think the buyer was Rick Hendrick.
