Title: What year 999 front fairing is adaptable to S4RS Post by: DucRS on January 21, 2009, 08:47:05 PM Looking to replace my OEM front fairing with the 999 front fairing and I was curios about what year would work, and does it take a lot of modifying to install.

Take your wheel off, remove the stock fairing, place it on ebay, install the new one and go for a ride. Title: Re: What year 999 front fairing is adaptable to S4RS Post by: Raux on January 22, 2009, 11:32:14 AM why not just get a 999, take off the side fairings, put handle bars instead of clipons and ... wait. that's a Streetfighter.

[thumbsup] yeah, fairing or fender? And why remove the wheel to take off the fender Icon? Title: Re: What year 999 front fairing is adaptable to S4RS Post by: Icon on January 23, 2009, 08:43:56 AM yeah, fairing or fender? And why remove the wheel to take off the fender Icon? From what I recall, you need as much room as you can sliding the new fender through the forks. It's pretty thick Carbon and will not bend. If the S4RS fender did not have the rear part that attaches to the Brake, then yes it would slide right in. Once your there, you'll see. Title: Re: What year 999 front fairing is adaptable to S4RS Post by: Capo on January 23, 2009, 10:32:55 AM The Olins fender (as fitted to the S4Rs), is much more difficult to remove that the Showa fender
Title: Re: What year 999 front fairing is adaptable to S4RS Post by: mikecu on January 26, 2009, 11:34:25 AM You can get the front mudguard off an S4rs without removing the wheel. I know this because I have done it. I only attempted it because I read a previous post explaining how it was done. It is a bit of a squeeze and you need to mask your wheel as there will come a point where the carbon guard is mighty tight and therefore likely to scratch your paint. I replaced my front guard with a 999 version from Casoli and it looks much sharper and is also finished to a much higher standard than standard! If I could only manage to get some photos uploaded I could show you but I have consistently failed in my attempts to do so, so you will just have to take my word for it.

Can you upload the photos to any sites like Flikr or Google Picassa? I am trying to determine if your problem is just getting them to appear here or just in general can't upload photos. I *tried* to get my fender off while the wheel was still on but gave up. I was afraid it was getting bent too much and I didn't want to damage anything. It is some thick CF. You have to understand that I am fairly incompetent with modern technology - perhaps this is why I like Monsters! Any suggestions on how to make my photos leap across cyberspace would be gratefully accepted. I have tried following the site's instructions but to no avail...

Any suggestions on how to make my photos leap across cyberspace would be gratefully accepted. I have tried following the site's instructions but to no avail... Can you copy and paste the link from photo bucket into a post? then I can show you how to imbed the photo. Make sure you set the phot bucket album so that it is viewable without password for instance the full link from photo bucket looks like this (note: I added an extra space just after the http: so that the browser would not display them as a link) but you only want to put this part http: //i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww39/dbran1949/IMG00039markedUp.jpg between the [ img ][ /img ] tags which gives you this (http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww39/dbran1949/IMG00039markedUp.jpg) Title: Re: What year 999 front fairing is adaptable to S4RS Post by: SikDuc on January 27, 2009, 06:15:29 PM He said fairing, not fender. Big difference.

More than likely it is the front fender he was asking about. He sent me a PM asking about it before I posted my first post. [thumbsup] |
