Title: Review: DP Termi / Airbox / ECU kit for M695
Post by: somegirl on May 13, 2008, 09:20:53 AM
The DP Termi high-mount exhaust kit was one of my first mods.

The kit includes:
- Termis
- Open airbox
- DP ECU
- Various hardware required

Despite missing instructions, a friend and I were able to install everything except for the ECU in an afternoon.  Installation included removing the emissions box under the seat as well as installing spacers to move the rearsets out a bit.

I wasn't sure what would be required for ECU installation, so I asked my regular shop to do this.  They removed the O2 sensor and made various adjustments, as well as putting it on the Dyno before and after.

As you can see, the new ECU filled in the dips mid-range in RPMs.  The 695 is set up to run lean from the factory.  With the kit on, it feels much smoother.  My gas mileage did decrease slightly, but I still get around 45 mpg. [moto]

The Termis sound great (I have kept in the baffles as I have neighbors).  It took me a little while to get used to the sound of the open airbox, but I quite like it now. [thumbsup]

In addition to improved performance, the cosmetic improvements (looks and sound), the other benefit is saving a bit of weight (I believe about 10 lbs).  I have not had passengers complain about heat on their legs, the CF keeps things cool.  Overall I have been very happy with the kit.

Just got new front & rear sprockets yesterday, I need to ride some more with them before posting a review. So far so good. :)

Here are additional pictures of the Termis by request.  Excuse the pollen on my bike, haven't had a chance to wipe that off!

Thanks for those added pictures Ms. Incredible, you lived up to your name. They show exactly what I was interested in...the angle of the bracket and the vertical position of that heat shield.

Everything looks great!

Thanks for the assistance and I hope you enjoy that bike...best of both worlds: classic design and performance!

 [thumbsup]

Nice bike, I like the way your termi pipes split in the back.  I have an s2r 1000 and they are double stacked on the right side. I think they hang too low.  A set of Zard's are the best looking IMO.
