Title: Moving help? *first post updated*
Post by: Popeye the Sailor on January 24, 2009, 08:16:32 AM
So, Paula and have bought a house up in the twisties (Pescadero Road), and we're hopefully going to be moving February 8th.

Given that Jamie went and done broke himself good http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=18023.0, I need some people to fill in.

I'll be renting a truck, so I'm just looking for help with lifting. There isn't all that much stuff (me and one other guy moved it all in about 8 hours last time), but I figure with four-six people the whole thing can be done in a half day, and I'll be able to move the day after. The house is a single story, though the current place is on the second floor.

Dinner/lunch at Alice's will be provided.  [drink]

Sound off.

Details!

Start: Sunday, February 8th  9AM
569 Cutwater Lane
Foster City, CA 94404

You should obviously see the large moving truck.
Park somewhere that is not in front of a garage.

From there, we unload at the new place-I'm not sure when, but everything will fit in one truckload, so, ideally around lunch.
10002 Pescadero Creek Rd.
Loma Mar. 94021

This is near the Y camp-don't tell me most of you don't know the street  ;)

If you're coming by car, you *may* want to take 92 to the coast and come up that way-it's a bit comfier. I'm assuming the rest of you can figure it out. Anyone gets lost, call me-650-391-5303.

Everything will be packed and ready to go.

Free beer.

Free food.

You need to move down a story or up the pay.   [laugh]

If you want I can drop da bike off at the new place instead of the old.  Don't have tons of time to help move, but can maybe give an hour or so.

Might have you drop the bike off at the new place, in which case, you'd need to hand on to it for another week or so.

I'd rather have Enzo-he's way bigger'n you.

It's OK in the garage...

...as for Enzo, I'll have to check in with him.  I thought he had something on the 7th.  It might be the 8th.  Lemme check.

Hey now! I'm not totally gimped!
By the 8th I may actually be able to get down the stairs and in a car to your place.
Figure then all we have to do is rig up a little wagon to the wheel chair and I can haul stuff to and from the truck.   [laugh]
One way or another I'll be there helping somehow.  [thumbsup]

I am a tentative in.

The proverbial sheit has hit the proverbial fan 'round here. Hopefully things will be gooder by then.
So start wishing me good karma which will be instantly returned to you in the form of lifting and moving.

I just finished up a fairly large project and now the boss is talking of no more work... I gave a homeless couple from New Orleans $20 on Fri. hoping that karma would take affect sooner than later!

Can I pay you to help move your stuff? That should be good right?

I gave Sushi to a Homeless Man before... I did not stick around to see if he liked it or not.

I just asked him if he was allergic to Fish and then Left  ;D

Drinking the beer at the apartment and peeing at the house does not actually counts as moving it, fyi.

I really wish I could help, but that'll be my 6th day post ACL surgery. If anyone tells me I'm a Wuss and should be able to help, then out goes the crutches and leg brace. Otherwise, I'll be there when the real party happens in May.  ;D

I can come by and bark out orders if no one else has volunteered?

Fine, I'll try and come out to bark orders. Keep in mind, my broken left wrist is only at 70%. I know, I know you're hearing violins.

Nooo...we load...then unload.

Unfortunately through some sort of oversight (we're looking into it) all free beverages and food at at the new place. Funny how that works.

'Sides-y'all would be up in the twisties anyways.

I'm not saying I expect anyone to show up then-just that I'll be starting then. Ya'll show up when you wake up and get rid of whoever you woke up next to.

We are in need of some electrical help over at the tenement, so we'll be at the new place on the early side with your Monstah...hopefully we'll see you there.  If not, we'll leave it on the side of the road with the keys in it and a big FREE sign taped to the tank.  You can report it as "stolen."  [laugh]

For those going straight to the new house, you can see pics of it here to help you find it:
http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=18844.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=18844.0)

It is between the two YMCA signs on Pescadero; if you see both, you've passed it.  Right across the street from us is a wooden sign that says something like "Lazy MJB Ranch".

Another note is that cell phones do not work very well up there.  If you don't get through to us on the cells, we are probably either there or close to there.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help! [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

Sorry we didn't make it down. With the rain from the previous days, and the tide being in, a large portion of the bikeway was underwater. And one pesky, wheel grabbing storm drain was under there too. Maria was unlucky enough to discover this. She's ok. A little bruised and "slightly damp", but ok.

I hope the move went well, and you had a less eventful experience than we did.
