Title: Rizoma bar end problems.....HELP
Post by: muskrat on January 24, 2009, 10:23:07 PM
I bought these  http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_383&products_id=395    and received them.  They look great but there is no way to mount them on my Ducati S2R handlebar.  I then bought http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_383&products_id=392  and the problem is that the diameter of the mirrors is too large to fit on the bar end sliders shown in the second picture.  The two inserts, one plastic and the other rubber (2 of them) are incompatible and allow the mirrors to spin freely.  Can you tell me what bar ends I need so as not to move my controls all the way in and do such large modification? Here is a pic of the correct setup http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=36
Thank you for your help guys

So what doesn't fit:

1) the Bar ends in the bars?
2) the mirrors on the barends?
3) All of the above?

I've run in to the same issue, but I need clarification before i can give you good answer.

Also, did your bike come with the (metal) barends?

I have the same setup and there are "0" directions from Rizoma, but you can find your way through.  What you need to do is find the correct expansion plug that is included with the barends.  Fit it to the bolt and when you place it into the bar and tighten the bolt down it will expand keeping it from spinning freely.  I think I used the largest bar "plug" when I fit mine.

As far as the mirrors go there are some plastic sleeves that come with the bars to allow them to fit tighter.  I used the "white" one and they fit fine.

I like your set up with those Rizomas, I have the exact same bike. Did you install them yourself? Any tips?

Having just installed a set of Rizoma bar end mirrors and bar ends, I echo the comment above that there are no instructions.  I did find that the appropriate bushing for the mirrors was a snug fit on the bars that required a rubber hammer to get everything in place prior to tightening.

I thought you were referring to mrplease's 696, not the OP. :-[

i'm having the smae problem with my mirrors and bar ends. trying to find a solution. but everytime i crank the mirrors down to tighten them and it doesn't work i can't get them to open back up enough to stick a new bushing.  [bang]

I have the same setup (barends and mirrors), and had no fitment issues. the thinnest white sleeve was the one that I used to fit the mirrors, and they're pretty dang solid.
